Is it just me or do you dislike Iowa State because of their fans and not their team? The Des Moines register put out a music video to pictures of their first round Big 12 conference tournament win. They think that their NCAA tournament "run" from last year beating Iona and LIttle Rock was some sort of crowning achievement. Don't get me wrong the entire point of the first weekend of the NCAA tournament is to advance to the sweet 16. They treat the Big 12 tournament like it means something. Oh well, back to work, dealing with annoying ISU fans.

BTW I don't mind you hating us. That is fine. However, there are way better reasons to hate us then the ones you listed. Those reasons just make you look jealous of our basketball success.

I hate how you guys took on POS players that were kicked off of teams for good reasons to build what you have now. Iowa should be taking over it's rightful place once again going forward. Enjoy your last chance at a long run next week. Back to reality with Fred being gone and not lowering his standards to accommodating players kicked off at times not once but even twice from other programs and molding/shaping rules/regs to accommodate said cast off. The story from a year or 2 ago about residences in an apartment building where a few of said cast offs were housed that they were to contact Fred first over the Police was freaking comical.

With KU getting KO'ed in the 1st rd they gotta shot to win it.. they've got a good group with senior leadship. Wouldn't surprise me to see them make another run as annoying as it is.

Im picking ISU to the elite 8. They have the senior leadership and come March that is what can carry you far. The only thing I worry about is Burton becoming a walking turnover. it seems when he plays within the system they are damn good. its when he is trying to force it and then they fall apart.

I picked ISU to lose last year first round and they went to the sweet 16. I hope I am not a curse to them.

This is an very annoying time indeed. I hope they lose to TCU that would at least provide some entertainment.

But they wouldn't lose to TCU, they'd be losing to the refs :D

Seriously, I don't like them because of the $hit talking they seem to be unable to control. Play the game and let your talent do the talking. Then I'll pull for them.
That being said, the things listed in the OP isn't a problem.

Burton will be thier X factor.. He will either be their gift or their curse.. I was surprised at how athletic he is kinda of Charles Barkley type game.

I'm sure Fred didn't expect the neighbors of said players to contact him and not call authorizes but so he could address the problems and unlike Fran would discipline them accordingly. Jealousy will get you no where.

I know you love to hate the Cyclones but most of Fred's transfers didn't come because they were kicked off of other teams. Hogue and McKay for instance both went two years to Indian Hills. Hogue signed with Fred right out of junior college but McKay who was the best player on the Indian Hills team but signed with Marquette. Even before practice time started McKay decided Marquette was not going to give him the opportunity to play that ISU did so he finished that semester at Marquette and then had to set out a full season only leaving him with 1 1/2 seasons of eligibility.

As far as Iowa fans feeling sorry for ISU after this year don't waste your tears as I would put Prohms coaching ahead of Fran from what I have seen this year and looking to the future.

No, it actually happened champ. And the fact 3/4th of your dipsh$t fanbase wanted Prohm gone numerous times in his 1st 2 seasons speaks volumes for the IQ level there.

And frankly the Big 12 in general sucks nationally. You have to go back to 1988 to find a team not named Kansas make the final game. And no Andy, I think people should travel and have fun. But don't turn this into a Super Bowl. Its a fun time in a nearby city, playing in an irrelevant tournament. Leave it at that.

Iowa ought to try treating the Big 10 tournament sometime like it means something. You might find out it can be a whole lot of fun :D

And just for the record, here's the history on this year's 7 seniors....not a discipline problem in the bunch, either at ISU or any other school:

Long, Morris and Thomas--all came in as freshmen
Burton--transferred on good terms from Marquette
Bowie and Holden--5th year transfers with degrees from previous schools
Nezlek---was sitting in the ISU student section, and called Hoiberg to give him a shot at joining the team.

Didn't Iowa & Iowa State play this year? I thought so, obviously the better team won. If Iowa could play their schedule Iowa would have dome just as good or better.

Iowa state fans generally annoy me but that's probably because I don't care about their program.

Yeah. They are like these people. The problem is now they are outside all day, right across the yard! And if you go outside they are right there with their #$%^ lemonade and want to "chat" and now you gotta sell your house and move to get away from them. Creepy people.

And how did you get to the point where you could attract talent? Huh genius? It really isn't that hard to follow.

This probably explains why so many Clown fans have made disparaging remarks about Prohm's lack of coaching ability during the live in game threads.

Your guy is a good coach when the team is hitting their threes. McCaffery may not be the greatest coach in the country, but he can coach rings around Prohm.

I‘m sure most ISU fans would have welcomed Fred back at any time but since that isn’t an option I have never wanted Prohm gone nor was I aware other fans did. If so it wouldn’t compare to the number of posters here who have wanted Fran to be gone after a few missed games in a row during his entire 7 years here including this season.

Let's remember, the DM Register is just trying to get some online hits and maybe sell a few newspapers. They probably had an intern put that video together.

Quite honestly, more than any fan base, I dislike Michigan St for basketball. I went to college with a ton of Husker football fans....they are terrible.

Iowa and Iowa St fans just have to live/work close together.

Iowans by and large are an insufferable bunch of dipsh*t sports fans. If I weren't burdened with caring about Hawkeye athletics I'd relish being away from all you knuckleheads in a part of the country that couldn't give two licks about any college from a state that starts with 'I.' If I didn't bleed black and gold I wouldn't necessarily hate both sides equally as much as forget about them immediately.

But alas, here I am. And here they are.
So screw that second-rate ag school with their little brother mentality, their corner-cutting basketball program, and their subsidized train-wreck of a football program that leeches off the success and finances that in a perfect world would funnel only to Iowa City. Oh, to be Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Nebraska... I hope little bro loses every game in every sport until their sorry-ass campus gets swallowed up by the void of irrelevance from whence they came. The Big 12 can't die soon enough.

I have heard from a reliable Iowa native who worked in Michigan that the average MSU fan tends to be about as obnoxious a fan as there is.

Meanwhile...as for myself, if you let the opposing fan bases get to you - even though they very well may deserve your opinion of them and dislike it overall, how you ultimately react to them is a you problem.

ISU fans don't bother me at all. Hell, I'm a Cardinals fan in MLB...Cubs fans can't be blamed for letting off some well pent up steam - so they haven't bothered me at all. Good for them.

For the most part, fans are fans. Every fan base has assholes, Iowa being no exception. I treat the assholes the same way...I turn on life's windshield wipers/fluid to see down the road, and go on with my day.

As for the sweet 16 chest thumping...let me know when the next time our beloved Hawkeyes get there so I can choose whether to be an ass about it or not...because it's been a loooooooooooooong time.

I want ISU to go to the tourney and lose to Michigan, a team that finished behind us in the conference.

The jealousy is strong in this thread...let the hate course through you

This is fairly simple, the ISU basketball program is just plain at a higher level than Iowa's program...and that's been clear from Hoiberg's 2nd year until now. You won't find many, if any, impartial analysts out there who would disagree with that assessment...though certainly rabid Iowa fans will. And it appears that this will continue to be the case. I think Iowa has some nice young talent, and ISU is going to be rebuilding some next season...but until Iowa puts itself in the Sweet 16 while ISU stays home....and does so for a number of years...the relative supremacy of ISU basketball will remain.

The thing with isu is they aren't ever as awesome as clown fans think they are. Each and every clown fan here will tell us how they won't drop off next year yet I still can't find the 4 players that are going to match the production that they are getting from Long, Thomas, Burton and Morris.

It's always the same posts and the same people and always gets over 10 pages of the same bullsh*t! Seriously get a life! I have never been to another teams board, but you guys just wait for Iowa state post then attack!

I bet you guys check out our board more than your own and that's sad.

It is the little bro syndrome that afflicts all isu fans. They simply can't help it.

A few comments stood out to me:

1) I love how Hawk fans belittle ISU's path to the Sweet 16 last year. First of all, they earned at high seed which gave them a lesser opponent in Iona. Next, Purdue (from your league) lost to Little Rock. Why begrudge ISU for that? They still had to play + beat UALR.

2) I always enjoy the 'Ag School" type comments from Iowa fans. A school that celebrates Iowa farmers with ANF should probably not make disparaging comments about ISUs strong Ag programs.

3) If you dont want ISU fans on "your board" (funny I thought the Internet was open + available to everyone), then stop creating threads about Iowa State, and stirring the pot with "Clown" comments, etc.

4) Finally, Prohm will be fine. Yes, they lose a lot after this season, but they are bringing in a solid freshmen class. Like I said before, players come + go, but new stars will emerge. 5 years ago, Niang + Morrjs were unknown. Now they are ISU legends. Same goes for Iowa and every other school.

I say no way ISU makes the Elite 8 ... Yes, there is parity in basketball but ISU needs to bring it every game. Too many games where they play lazy defense ... TCU will get them tonight ... ISU may win a first round game but that should cap the run ... I haven't figured out ISU yet ... what type of team they will be ... They've shuffled so many players in and out I honestly only know a few names ... I think the jury is still out on what Prohm's program will become ...

Better program from 2000-2017 is easy. Its ISU. They have had a run and been the premier program in the state. They have had a nice string of seasons and Holberg elevated it to another level. Now lets see what Phrom does? Does he keep it at that level or do they fall back? One never knows.

Both program went through some down years in there, but ISU made a great hire in Holberg and it paid off. Iowa went the route with Fran and I am still hoping he can get it turned around. His recruiting is getting better and he is slowly making Iowa a Brand Name again. Getting players from STL and CHI is key for his team moving forward.

Prior to 2000 it was most likely Iowa/ISU neck and neck. I think both programs were pretty strong and solid.
