Iowa State internal fighting.

Why be jealous? Do you honestly think Iowa, or any other team for that matter, couldn’t load up on transfers? There’s a reason why it’s not common and ISU is showing us why.

The transfer market is extremely competitive these days. Blue bloods are routinely taking transfers.

Cyclone fanatic site has a thread where people bring up stuff about available transfers.

Taking transfers or loading up on transfers like Pepperman is jealous of?

If the right transfer was looking at Iowa (ie Uthoff), Iowa would be more than willing to find a scholarship.

Did you bother to read my whole post? Did you see the part where I said it may not work? Do you know what schadenfreude is?

Shayok leads the B12 in scoring (or he did at one time this year). I'd gladly dump four current Hawkeye players if it meant we could bring in four transfers and ONE of them pans out to be the leading scorer in the B1G. You're crazy if you wouldn't, but there are risks to the strategy.

If nothing else, fill holes like guard play with some transfers. This is simple stuff.

Schadenfreude, is that where you talk out of both sides of your mouth? It may work, it may not... blah blah blah. What does schadenfreude have to do with any of this?

“I’ll gladly dump four current Hawkeye players...”. You are awesome. Such a great fan. I’m sure ISU is bragging about having the second leading scorer in the Big 12 and possibly the worst team chemistry in the country. Why haven’t other schools thought about this system?

I’d say the players were acting like their coach, but Jacobsen clearly is shoving an ISU player. Prohm only goes after opposing players. Jacobsen is still DB just like is coach though.
And Fran chases Refs to the back.

It’s not just Williams, he says this and then their fans pick it up and run with it, just like Bryce did with the Prohm cares so much about Lard crap. Let’s be real, he has no front court and absolutley needs Lard for bodies. That’s it!

At this point there is almost no evidence Lard is better than Conditt.

Which makes it even more weird. But if he didn’t have lard, he’d only have Jacobson and Conditt, too thin.

Logan logic: I'd rather have my coach and players confront problems in the middle of the court, rather than try to do it after the game away from everyone's eyes. While Fran is crazy, half your team and coach are crazy. Most Iowa fans are sick of Fran, ISU fans love the fire their guys are showing.

ISU's a national embarrassment right now after last night's game, and where does white trash Logan go, straight to the Iowa boards. LOL. Did you tweet Foster to make sure he watched that sh**show last night?

I'll address your last paragraph because I think it poses an interesting question. As I originally said, there are ups and downs to pursuing transfers. Another poster (maybe it was you) listed a lot of ISU transfers under Prohm and my thought was "fine, many didn't work out, but the one or two that do work out make up for it." As for me saying I'd dump four Iowa players, I'm saying that because ISU has to constantly bring in new players due to their recruiting philosophy. If Iowa had four seniors, I'd gladly roll the dice on some transfers in the event one of them is an all-conference type, especially with the guard position. You're insane to say you wouldn't. The catch is when you accidentally end up with a man of poor character, you have to decisively act... and that's never easy.

In summary - I'm indeed jealous that ISU will pursue transfers that make their team better and my university won't do it. I think that's silly not to embrace a major (increasingly major) recruiting bed, but I understand you disagree. And yes, out of the other side of my mouth, I get a kick out it when it blows up in ISU's face. All said, my own personal bottom line on this topic is I wish Iowa would be more willing to pursue transfers or at the very least grad transfers, knowing full well it is a slightly more risky proposition.

Lastly, I believe you're a Hawk fan and probably a good one even though I don't know you. Feel free to respond to me with vitriol if you wish.

Here are the grad transfers Prohm has landed at ISU:

Merrill Holden
Jeff Beverly
Zoran Talley
Hans Brase
Darrell Bowie

Here are the sit out transfers:

Marial Shayok
Prentiss Nixon
Michael Jacobson
Ray Kasongo

He's not exactly knocking it out of the park with transfers. Shayok is his best by far and then probably Jacobson? His grad transfer recruiting has been terrible.

How do you keep a roster like this eligible? Are the same academic advisors still around from the Troy Davis era?

5 of them had already graduated. The other four came from Nebraska, Tennessee, Virginia, and Colorado State, all of which I understand are pretty good schools.

How do you know their academic standing? I mean one came from Harvard FFS.

Virginia is a damn good school too.

Idiotic post that could be interpreted as racist.

.

Only by an idiot.

I don't know their academic standing, but I do know someone in Ames who's offered a number of "insights" on the academics of ISU athletes. (primarily football and basketball). He worked for a business that could be described as "connected to the program". But I guess since he's a white guy and those are the two sports with the highest percentage of black players...he's racist too.

So what did you mean by the comment how do you keep a roster like that eligible when you have no clue of their academic standing at the school they transferred from?

See my above post. I'm speaking in generalities about ISU athletics. Transfers are often more risky options for a variety of reasons (as others have pointed out). One of which is academic standing.

Not anymore they are not. There is something like 900+ transfers each year in college basketball.

I'm inclined to think its more the former. He was acting like a clown during the iowa game trying to grab the ball from CMac when the clock was going to zero. Can't remember if he was involved in the other skirmish during the game but wouldn't surprise me.
He was.

Understood, but more common does not necessarily = less risky. Regardless...once again...I was referring to ISU specifically.

IT IS RACIST! Oh wait Jacobson is in this group and he is not black? Never mind.

Sounds like there's a lot of rumors flying around that it's possible ISU could lose 50% of the current roster with transfers and losing the two seniors.

Too bad, but not surprising since ISU is now a "football" school.;)

Thought Jacobson was a DB. Maybe I’m wrong. Displayed some nice leadership there trying to get the misfit in order.

You watching the same video as I am?

Jacobson calls over Horton-Tucker to the "huddle." Horton-Tucker immediately starts walking over to the huddle. The referee passes in front of Horton-Tucker. Jacobson appears to throw and minor hissy-fit and gestures to Horton-Tucker (clearly suggesting that Horton-Tucker needs to pick up the pace). Just as Horton-Tucker gets to the huddle, Jacobson shoves him and chews him out.

Is that what you would really consider "leadership?"

I've seen enough of Jacobson's antics at both Nebraska and Iowa State (need I remind you of the douche-baggery during this year's Iowa/Iowa State game?) to know that the guy is a Grade A tool box.

Unless the Vegas odds makers are tuned into the inner facets of each team in the post season... there could be a lot of $$$ made by betting against the Clones in the first round.

Very possible, but has been dangerous to bet on ISU this year. Seems like every time I count them out, they show up big and every time I expect them to breeze they lay an egg.

I really dont know what to make of ISU right now. I didn't get to watch the Texas or WV games because of family commitments. I wasnt at practice and am not privy to what happened between Conditt + Shayok or Jacobsen + Wigginton. I dont believe the rumors I read on message boards.

Having said all of that, I will say this:

1) Prohm is fine. No one was complaining about transfers and chemistry back in January. I refuse to play the "Fire Prohm" game.

2) Even when all was well, I always thought something seemed off. They never really looked like they were having fun or liked each other.

3) None of us were at practice and truly know what happened, but it's fair to say it "seems" like 1 or 2 players may be a virus, and may need to go. Addition by subtraction.

4) Its hard to watch ISU this year. It's hard to pinpoint why, but the term "prima donnas" comes to mind when I watch them play.

I'm going to Texas Tech game on Saturday. It will be really interesting. Tech will be motivated x 100. ISU? Who knows?
