I haven't followed much HS wrestling this year but excited that the Semi's and Finals will be streamed online. Does anyone have specific guys that they are looking forward to watching? (Iowa Commits, Big Storylines, etc.)

Thanks in advance, figured you guys would know more than me.

Go Hawks!

Wagner #1 at 120 3A "Bettendorf". He should have no trouble standing on top the of the podium.

I'm a little bias because I'm related to him but Bryce Esmoil at 195 2A. Mitch Kelly's son Joe Kelly at 152 2A. Looking forward to West vs. Thompson in 1A. Teske is a beast. There are a ton of great matchups out there sadly some are even in the 1st round. Exciting and can't wait to see some of it live!!

Johnson, a Hawkeye to be, @ 160 from Osage should blow his way through the field in 2A

BTW: Has one loss this year... to Berge from Minnesota 15-5. Some fans on this forum may have heard of him.;)

I think he wrestled clingenpeel and Malcolm at preseason tournaments too. I believe he beat Malcolm and lost to clingenpeel.

If that's the case, I stand corrected. Thanks!

Edit: Now I am confused(Not surprising I know) his record is 39-1. Maybe out of State wrestlers don't count on the record or preseason matches don't count???

Preseason matches don't count. If you take a loss during the regular season to a wrestler from another state, that counts on your record.

Thomsen just got beat in the first round by Wally Zernich of Lisbon. Zernich had West beat in districts until a late takedown was waived off.

I'll be watching the Portillo brothers from Clarion as well as Teske and Cook from Fort Dodge.

I have alot of respect for the Portillo brothers, but Im going to pull for Simms (SBL) to win in the qtrs., he has 1 loss on the year and its by 1 point to Portillo. Hope they both take care of business in the first round.

You mentioned "sadly some are even in the 1st round" I believe Minnesota is going to seed their state tournament using track wrestling. Should be interesting to see how it works out.

I saw this tweet RE: Minnesota seeding

I wonder if the tweet means for Team state? individual sections are this weekend. State for team and individual is next weekend. I do know they used track to seed the individual sections as well. They had the "seeding meeting" still last night to make sure everything was good with the coaches, not sure how they do that for state. I think for the most part track did a good job, they just had to make some tweeks to some weights.

Preseason matches don't count. That's one of the things that makes them preseason matches.
