I've been trying to get through to the ticket office to get tickets for a friends family who is out of the country for the past two days no luck even talking to anyone. Had my secretary try both yesterday and today while I've been in meetings. She has counted 231 attemtpts she has made on her phone and has yet to talk to anyone. She calls it the worst customer service she has ever dealt with and she is from California. Can't get a hold of my buddy until another two days. I've tried another 100 times atleast. Guess I will need to send my secretary out for a nice dinner with the stress ive put her through.

Ive tried online application and it keeps saying error. Oh well, was trying to get some and see if it was possible, but I don't think it will happen.

I live out west and have called the Stanford office a few times to see if I could get tickets from them. The have answered everytime and have told me they have been given 27,000 tickets and expect all of those to be sold by the end of today to Alums and Season ticket holders. They wont have any leftover but will call me if they do. Great customer service from them.

Sounds like they have some kinks to work out before next season when we make the playoff. To bad for this season. Doesnt sound like they were ready for all the traffic of Iowa making a big bowl. I've never had this much trouble getting tickets to a major sold out sporting event.

Also see if your server needs to be updated to the latest update. Takes only a few minutes. Iowa may not have been ready to handle servers that don't have all the latest updates.

Yeah its something with the website. I have tried from my iPhone, Computer, and iPad. It keeps saying error and I talked to the ticket office yesterday and they said they were having issues.

Basically told me they got almost "triple" the amount of requests than the Big 10 Championship. So that means no tickets for this guy, oh well.

I'm glad I got mine in instantly when they became available. Problem is I am not at the 150 points they're saying will be the cutoff.

Ticket master had some go on sale at 10:00 this morning but they sold out within seconds... Can't believe how tough this ticket is to come by.

Visited the Rose Bowl website this morning and it indicated a limited number of tickets would go on sale at 10:00 am central thru ticketmaster. Got online, and literally was in within milliseconds of them being available. No luck. Stupid ticket brokers have ruined events for the general public.

Since it looks like I won't have enough priority points to get my request thru the university fulfilled, I am going to get shut out. I finally decide to go to my second bowl game (first was 2003 Orange), and I won't be able to.

Can't afford the overpriced packages.

I think you should send your secretary to dinner simply for asking her to do personal favors for your family.

A little slack probably needs to be given the Iowa ticket office....especially compared to Stanford.

Let's see...Stanford is making what, it's 4th Rose Bowl appearance in the past decade or so. Iowa making its first in a quarter of a century. So not only do the Stanford ticket folks have a greater quantity of experience, but a much more recent history of dealing with Rose Bowl distribution. They have 27,000 to sell, and let's be generous and say maybe 40,000 people trying to get them.

According to other posts on this forum, Iowa has only 22,000 to sell (not sure why the discrepancy in allotments), and could very easily have upwards of 100,000 people trying to buy them.

So yeah...one of those two ticket offices just MIGHT be a tad bit busier right now.

Pic of secretary?

I called yesterday and it took probably 9 or 10 callbacks before I got through. Then I waited about 40 mins. on hold before I talked to someone. I did go on the website and ordered 2 additional tickets, probably won't get them. But I didn't have any issues with the online process.

Season ticket holders...I don't care how many priority points...should only be allowed the same number of bowl tickets as they have season tickets. If there are any left over, fine, but all season ticket holders should have a reasonable chance to attend the bowl game.

I have no doubt that a significant portion of the tickets will be purchased to sell to friends/family...many of whom didn't set foot in Kinnick once this season (or possibly many seasons). So....despite having tickets for 13 years, I could get edged out by someone's brother in law who has never been to Kinnick in their life.

Why would anyone call in? The instructions on how to order online are pretty explicit, and if you don't already have an account with season tickets and points, you aren't getting tickets through the University. Maybe try mailing them a nice letter, see if that is more effective.

Had problems accessing the account my buddy has. So I have to call. Finally got a hold of a lady however and got everything taken care of.

......but that would leave 13k seats without tickets, why would that be more "fair"? That certainly doesn't allow season ticket holders to have a "reasonable chance" to attend the game.

I take it what you want is to actually verify who went to games? I get the frustration, but that is just downright silly.

Well, it is season ticket holders AND/OR I-Club members, right? Not just season ticket holders/I-Club members combined. So I-Club members without season tickets, but with enough points will still get tickets.

Not my family. And lucky for me I work with a group of people that go out of their way to help everyone in the office. Most are young but old school. Big difference then the entitled, easily offended always a victim people that make up most of society now. Makes going to work everyday a lot easier.

Where did you hear the 150 point cutoff? I'm not at that level and with the website and phone lines basically not working, might not even both.

No, that doesn't leave 13k seats without tickets. Not sure where you came up with this arbitrary number. There were what...about 50,000 season tickets sold, give or take? That is still more than there are bowl tickets available. Naturally everyone won't buy, but it gives all but the lowest priority folks a shot. If there are any left over, THEN the rest can be sold based on priority. Not a difficult concept to grasp, and far from "silly".

It is a heckuva lot better than letting the top 5,000 buy them all, so they can sell/give them to family/friends who don't even go to the games to begin with.

Actually the season tickets were way down this year. Lowest in a decade. I think around 35k.

I agree that each of those 35k should get first crack, in order of preference points. Any left over should go back through this circus of a process. These priority points are hell to young people like my wife and I. It's pretty tough to accumulate 150 points by 30 while trying to start your careers and raise a family (and that is even with starting off with the generous  60 points we get for both being alumni and letter winners).

Was wondering the same thing about 150 pts for cutoff where it comes from? Hope not true because until then I thought I had a shot. Got to wonder about many people who sit as a group of like 4-8 but go under one person's name to get ticket are now stuck where they can only get 2.

Side note wonder how many fans who got rid of season tickets before this year who want to attend the Rose Bowl are kicking themselves now.

I went to the ticket office in person to try to get them to fix my point total, and asked the guy what the cutoff was looking like. He said he thought around 150 probably.

I'm real glad we booked Sun. afternoon with a local travel agency. Complete pkg including Rose Parade and seat upgrades air and land transportation all for $7,400 for 2 people. Nothing to worry about everythings taken care of. I feel bad for fans who are having so much trouble, but you can't wait on deals, you have to book immediately as soon as it's announced.

Maybe the avg joe fan should stop buying tickets if this is how they are treated. I know a couple of alums that have had season tickets for years and are going to get left out in the cold unless they want to spend $600 a ticket. The top donors at Iowa should be taken care of but they shouldnt be able to buy 8 tickets. I can understand people who have only been season ticket holders for a couple years getting left out but not alums that have had season tickets for over a decade. Ticket brokers and University's are ruining it for the avg fan.

I hear you and agree. Had tickets over a decade and alum and I'd settle for upper row if I could. My ? is for other season ticket holders is if I remember correctly Sunday when I applied there will be $20 charge for the application even if we don't get tickets or is it for only those who get tickets? If that is correct how much $ will the University be making off of loyal fans who don't get seats.

150 point total was going to be the cutoff for the BCS playoff games due to a lower number of tickets being available for each of the schools. Read!!!

I just hopped on the University site, created an account, signed in, and got on the waiting list for 4 tix....all in a matter of minutes....what are my chances of success? I read somewhere else that you'd find out by the 14th, anybody know if that's true?

I'm hinging a guys road trip from Iowa on the ability to get tix. I don't want to take the chance to drive all the way to Pasadena and not be able to scalp tix, which is what I'd normally do for any other Iowa game.

If you don't have any preference points I'd say your chances are probably zero. Increase it by 5% for every 10 points maybe

While I agree with this, the thing that bothers me is the people who get them through the University and then turn around and sell them on StubHUB for 3-4x the amount they paid for them.

The BTC there were tickets all over the Iowa sections going for 4-5x the amount of the face value of the ticket. What was worse is some of them were bought by Spartan Fans? How the hell can that happen and that is what bothers me the most.

If people have donated and been members for a long time, then they should get their tickets. But if they are just going to re-sell them, then that's not right.

I just requested 2 tickets from the University (I doubt I have a chance in heck of getting them but . . .) The confirmation email says "All FILLED requests will incur a $20 processing charge." So I'd say unless you get lucky and get what you requested, you're out no $$.

What? The allotment is 22,000 seats right? There were 35,000 season ticket seats. Obviously if everyone got tickets.......13k would be left without seats.

It doesn't give "everyone a shot", because you are proposing a system where everyone gets the chance. Now that you've clarified it sounds like you just want the big donors (high priority points) to be limited on how many they can buy....which is the exact opposite of what you proposed earlier.

Many donors have more than 8 seats, which is the limit for requests right now. If they got to order the same amount of season ticket seats it would actually make this situation worse.

Feel free to take it as an attack, you didn't think it through. Your last line proves what I said in the last one: You want some sort of "did you attend" test before they get tickets....that is SILLY.

I think most people agree with this, even the people taking advantage, but how can it be fixed? It really can't, is the Rose Bowl going to check IDs? Surely not.
