Iowa vs Rutgers Predictions?

125 - Suriano TF...5-0 Rutgers
133 - Delvecchio MD...9-0 Rutgers.
141 - Van Brill DEC...12-0 Rutgers
149 - Sorenson DEC...12-3 Rutgers
157 - Kem MD...12-7 Rutgers - I think Kem has something to prove after last week's less than energetic performance.
165 - Marinelli DEC...12-10 Rutgers - if Young goes he loses a close one.
174 - Gunther DEC...13-12 Iowa
184 - Bowman DEC...16-12 Iowa - this is my Iowa upset of the meet prediction. I think Gravina will take Bowman lightly.
197 - Mulligan DEC...16-15 Iowa - I think Wilcke's lack of offense will cost him this match.
285 - Stoll PIN...22-15 Iowa

I also think we see Glynn and Happel go against RU.

That would be a fresh look! I like it! Why not?
Only think Sam goes if we need him to win the dual- do we know they will start at 125?

What’s wrong with Stoll?

Rutgers guy here. You should keep in mind the raucous crowd at the RAC. Expecting 6,000 or more. Loud and proud. Could sway some of the close matches.
Yep, you never know. Sounds like a good time. Hope the Hawks perform well and win, but good luck to your team anyway.

What’s wrong with Stoll?
Stoll is fine and he will wrestle against Rutgers, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sits against Maryland who have themselves a pretty good 285 that Stoll would stilll probably beat easily. The thing is Maryland has no chance of winning the dual and there is no reason to put Stoll out there. Give him more time to rehab and be in the room getting in better shape before he hits the mat against ranked guys at Midlands. I figure Holloway will start against Maryland.

125: Suriano Tech Stickley 5-0 Rutgers
Stickley shows promise for the future, but Suriano is already the real deal.

133: DelVecchio Dec. Laux 8-0 Rutgers
Haven't seen much from Laux yet to prove he can hang with a top 15 guy.

141: Van Brill Dec. Turk/Happel 11-0 Rutgers
See 133

149: Sorenson Maj. DeLuca 11-4 Rutgers
Eagle soars

157: Kemerer Dec. Lewis 11-7 Rutgers
Kemerer handles Lewis, Maj/Tech anyone else

165: Marinelli Dec. Van Brill 11-10 Rutgers
Bull unleashes and gets first win over a quality opponent

174: Gunther Dec. Pagano 13-11 Iowa
Gunther's ability to do more with "lessor talent" will get take him far. Love this kid's attitude

184: Gravina Dec. Bowman 14-13 Rutgers
I like what I've seen out of Bowman, but Gravina is a level above.

197: Wilcke Dec. Mulligan 16-14 Iowa
Wilcke's pace will give him a chance at bonus late. We'll see if he gets it though

Hwt: Stoll Fall Gross 22-14 Iowa
Smash job

Which is why Brands should opt for the start to be drawn and hope it starts at 157. Imagine how quiet it'll get after Kemerer bonuses the world champ in the very 1st match.;)
Can't imagine the crowd being much of a factor with Rutgers starting down 0-10.

I'd wrestle Laux vs Rutgers. He has does not get blown out and has been close with Delvechio before.

I'm always amazed at the number of people who can't count correctly when they post their full predictions and team scores.

125 Suriano TF Stickley RU 5 UI 0
133 Delvechio dec Laux/Glynn RU 8 UI 0
141 Van Brill dec Turk/Happel RU 11 UI 0

184 Gravina dec Bowman RU 17 UI 9
197 Wilcke dec Mulligan RU 17 UI 12
HWT Stoll pins Gross RU 17 UI 17

I like to live dangerously with picks

You should start liking math - 18-17 Iowa after Stoll's pin

**cheap shot all in good fun**

So he thinks he "Might" be a bit emotional...........And his emotions "Might" be getting the best of him. Duh.

And they are upset that Mainelli says he wrestled with large crowds at Blair and somehow his comment is dissing their facility. Whatever.

But then their 133, DelVecchio states "We were all young and dumb at one point, right?" referencing Marinelli's comments.

Perhaps Delvecchio is not that far removed from young and dumb himself to say something like that. Sheeeesh.

He is definitely trying to make up some stuff to get his team going. Not much here......

"We need to go there ready," said Brands. "The last time we were at their facility it was a spirited, rabid crowd. The rumor is it is sold out and I heard they were bringing in extra seats to seat more than capacity. We're excited about the atmosphere."

The Scarlet Knights have seven ranked wrestlers in their lineup, including Penn State transfer Nick Suriano at 125 pounds. Suriano is 8-0 and ranked in the top two by most national rankings services.

"This is going to be similar to the Illinois meet," said Brands. "The one difference is we're not wrestling a team with a two-time NCAA champion, but we are wrestling a team that has a transfer that has brought a lot of upgrade in recognition to their program. (Rutgers) has done a good job."

Marinelli is looking forward to wearing that Hawkeye singlet in a hostile environment.

"That's the best thing for us because we thrive under that and don't break under pressure," said Marinelli. "I think having a hostile environment is awesome."

Alex was just giving an example of a hostile crowd not saying Blair is better than Rutgers. Lol

Obviously Goodale is intentionally taking these points out of context to motivate his guys, but if it works, it works. I am sure Tom will be turning the tables on this as much as he can and using it as well.

Did their 133 call the Bull dumb? Think that will motivate some Hawks? Yikes.

Here goes nothing

125: Going to be ugly guys! Surian by fall 0-6 Rutgers
133: could be Glynn here if not I think he goes Sunday. Either way it's a Dec for Rutgers 0-9
141: Could be Happel here if not he WILL wrestle on Sunday. I want to say we win this one with Happel but it will probably be Turk and we lose here also 0-12 Rutgers.
149: Brandon is capable of bonus here but I think they keep it to a regular decision and we get on the board. 3-12
157: Kem bounces back and puts on a clinic for a Major Dec. 7-12
165: IF and I say IF it's the Bull we win by a comfortable Dec maybe more but if it's Young we win by razor thin Dec. 10-12 Rutgers
174: Joey is sneaky good. He is not flashy but he is better than most believe he is Hawks get another Dec here and take the lead 13-12
184: Love what Bowman brings to the table and the upset is very possible but for now I'll go with the safe pick and he loses in another heartbreaker. 15-13 Rutgers takes the lead back.
197: Cash Money wins another OT match that destroys their crowd. 16-15 Hawks
Hwt: Sam comes out locks up a bear hug and gets the fall!! 22-15 Hawks

The Blair gym is pretty small. This small , private, expensive school is hidden in the woods of NW Warren County, near the Adirondack Trail.

NJ HS gets some good crowds, Blair ain't one of those places. Blair actually very rarely wrestles at home as it is so damn hard and far for teams to get there. Their schedule is mostly tournaments on the road and a few Quads on the road, and maybe a high profile match like against Wyoming Seminary . Their gym holds about 500, lol.

So hold on, Iowa wrestles in Carver that holds 15k of the loudest fans in the country and are wrestlers are suppose to be intimidated by going to Rutgers that holds 8k. I understand that Jersey men and woman are much louder then the normal person, so maybe this is what they are referring too. If anything the team should be worried most about the smell of perfume, cologne, hair product, and spray tans.

I will say they're not accustomed to having 8000 fans rooting for the other team, that makes a difference. Not to mention that while Carver holds 15k, it's very seldom full. I was at the Rutgers meet last time they were in NJ, and the crowd was on fire. This is like a lifetime event for these people.

Tack on the fact that they're likely to roll out to a huge lead, and I expect a lot of noise all night.

It will be a tough environment.

For those awesome Hawkeye fans traveling to NJ for the match, a great place for a beer and burger or sandwich is the nearby Brick House Tavern , the unofficial watering hole of RU Wrestling and the Scarlet Knights Wrestling Club. It's at 4901 Stelton Rd, S Plainfield NJ, about 10 minutes from The RAC.

You are sure to meet some serious Wrestling fans.
