Iowa vs Rutgers Predictions?

For those awesome Hawkeye fans traveling to NJ for the match, a great place for a beer and burger or sandwich is the nearby Brick House Tavern , the unofficial watering hole of RU Wrestling and the Scarlet Knights Wrestling Club. It's at 4901 Stelton Rd, S Plainfield NJ, about 10 minutes from The RAC.

You are sure to meet some serious Wrestling fans.

The two PBR Tall Boys are a nice touch. Reminds me of my youth. Take away the tans and sub western shirts for the sleeveless and sportcoat, this could have been my bros in 1977. LOL

I live on the East Coast and I've always liked most wrestling fans from NY and Jersey. They travel pretty well too. When BU had a team, we'd see a good number of them in Boston for meets.

I will say they're not accustomed to having 8000 fans rooting for the other team, that makes a difference. Not to mention that while Carver holds 15k, it's very seldom full. I was at the Rutgers meet last time they were in NJ, and the crowd was on fire. This is like a lifetime event for these people.

Tack on the fact that they're likely to roll out to a huge lead, and I expect a lot of noise all night.

It will be a tough environment.
Sounds like fun. When you go into hostile territory and kick some butt, it gets really fun. First you've got to kick some butt though. Hope you have a great time, Art!

I didn’t realize the Rutgers coaches and wrestlers were a bunch of snowflakes. They need this faux outrage to get hyped for a big dual? Sad.

Hang out in Atlantic City for the NJ States. 40,000 fans that look pretty much like the 3 'student's in the picture above, cram into Convention Hall on the AC Boardwalk Friday night-Sunday. It is a terrific tournament made better by the 'colorful' fans that go every single year.
Afterwards you find them in the casinos on the Boardwalk, looking for the cheapest tables , so they can drink for free, lol. The bars in AC are swamped w wrestling fans that weekend, too.
Many Screwy Louie sightings to boot.

why do you think Gravina will take Bowman lightly? Dont think ive ever seen Nick take a wrestler lightly...

More than anything it's pure speculation...kind of like the Auburn football team did the second time they played Georgia. I'm not taking anything away from Gravina, but if you're of his quality there certainly must be a small piece of your brain housing group that tells you this will not be as difficult as facing a top 10 opponent, which could lead to underestimating an opponent who happens to be on that night. Again, more than anything it's pure speculation...and if Bowman gets pinned it will be more than evident that I don't have a fricking clue...LOL. :)

Here goes nothing

125: Going to be ugly guys! Surian by fall 0-6 Rutgers
133: could be Glynn here if not I think he goes Sunday. Either way it's a Dec for Rutgers 0-9
141: Could be Happel here if not he WILL wrestle on Sunday. I want to say we win this one with Happel but it will probably be Turk and we lose here also 0-12 Rutgers.
149: Brandon is capable of bonus here but I think they keep it to a regular decision and we get on the board. 3-12
157: Kem bounces back and puts on a clinic for a Major Dec. 7-12
165: IF and I say IF it's the Bull we win by a comfortable Dec maybe more but if it's Young we win by razor thin Dec. 10-12 Rutgers
174: Joey is sneaky good. He is not flashy but he is better than most believe he is Hawks get another Dec here and take the lead 13-12
184: Love what Bowman brings to the table and the upset is very possible but for now I'll go with the safe pick and he loses in another heartbreaker. 15-13 Rutgers takes the lead back.
197: Cash Money wins another OT match that destroys their crowd. 16-15 Hawks
Hwt: Sam comes out locks up a bear hug and gets the fall!! 22-15 Hawks

I concur WRT Gunther...seems no matter how well he wrestles he just isn't going to get any ranking love from most of the sites until he gets a huge win. I mean how in the world can TOM have him 10th and Wrestle Stat not even have him in the top 33? I actually like his chances this year to score us a few points at NCAAs....

Iowa draws very large hostile crowds at Minnesota, Penn State, Oklahoma State, . . . and has for years. Give me a break.

How many times have the ten wrestlers we are putting on the mat tonight wrestled in front of 8,000 opposition fans?

Give me a break.

so now it's all ten wrestlers - so your point is a few of our wrestlers haven't wrestled in front of a large hostile crowd. That's a shocking insight. Glad you clued us in.

why do you insist on being a dick? We've got maybe 3 or 4 guys that have ever (maybe once or twice?) wrestled in front of a hostile crowd that large. The rest of them have probably never had the experience. So my statement that the team is not accustomed to this is a pretty simple and non-controversial statement of fact.

So, I've been in Asia for work and have not been up to speed on injuries. At this point is Lee still in discussions or redshirt? Thanks

That was back when you could buy a giant tenderloin (about 8 inches across...) at an A&W for $1.50. Used to wash and wax our cars in Ellis Park, the Asbury Park of Iowa.

The only prediction I have is Hawks will look better tonight than they did against Illini. I am pumped and cant wait for this tough road test. I'm pretty sure Brands will use Goodales motivation to motivate his team. I don't ever recall a Hawk team being afraid of a raucous crowd. Go Hawks.
