Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

Ok, we lost another elite recruit! Perspective please! When you recruit elite players you have to realize that your percentage of “gets” is going to be small especially if the players do not have a connection to the program. That is simply reality. We have lost a few for 2025 but don’t forget we already have one elite player committed. If we are lucky to get 1 in 10, we are already doing well (Deal) particularly when another quality player is also on board ( Houston ) Smile people!
I agree with your argument regarding recruiting success rate with highly ranked recruits. What’s baffling to me is the misses on the prospects which seem to be a near perfect match.

You would think that players which have excelled in modern run-and-gun offenses would flock to Iowa, a trademark of Hawkeye WBB. Scoring and Iowa WBB are synonymous, you would expect record setting scorers to be naturally attracted to Iowa. It’s not that simple.

While I agree, recruits that we've been in on for quite awhile like Speiser, Skinner, probably Greenway, hurt a lot more. Now really hoping for Hays. Though we are seeing very highly rated recruits in 2026 mentioning us and even visiting. It would just be nice to win one soon. And you're right, getting Deal was an absolute coup like I mentioned before. I like to stay positive in everything, especially WBB which has placed us on the national map 😀

I think a lot of recruits are (fairly) skeptical that we'll continue to run that kind of system and run it at a high level without CC. I think we will on both accounts but we'll all find out together.

It will be difficult, post-Clark/Martin/Marshall, to lead the nation in scoring once again but everyone is telling me that Jensen will run Bluder’s system and she has some pretty good replacements. I guess whether it functions at a high level is the big question.

Rooting hard for Jensen and Iowa WBB to have a another great year, put to rest any doubts recruits might have with the program. Another sold out year with lots of weekend games (TV friendly times).

And rooting extra for the five current freshmen to show out and solidify these spots anyway.

Deal and Houston coming.

Keep aiming high, and take the best transfers necessary to cover any gaps. Never know, it might be one of these lost recruits in year 2 or 3.

Marv is a lot more wise than I would have expected.

Probably the issue is some doubt that Iowa can duplicate the CC era of success.

That's going to take 2-3 years?

Maybe that was a factor in Skinner's decision, but Spieser went to Kansas State. Mittie has been at K-State 10 years now and has never made a Sweet Sixteen. Even if you don't think Iowa can return to the Final Four without Clark, Iowa has been a better program than K-State.

I think it's still too early to conclude much of anything about Iowa's recruiting post Clark and post Bluder.

So Hayes and Alves-Fernandez will be joined in Iowa City with Deal and Houston this weekend. Hopefully Jan can get one or both young ladies to join the 2025 class. We really need at least one, if not two inside players in this class.

Wouldn’t it be nice if some of the players from last year’s team returned to help with recruiting this weekend? But nyah. They are probably far from Iowa thinking about other things.

She's 22, rich, in great health, and happy. Let her enjoy what will be the pinnacle of her short existance on this rock. Existence? Existence. I can't quite interpret what tone you're trying to convey but either way the fact that SI has that as an "article" really shows how disturbingly entrenched parasocial media has invaded our collective consciousness.

In spite of the SI headline, I focused on the reality of Martin and Marshall being back in the state at the same time big recruits in town. My comment did not convey that very well… a fact my spouse (no pics) often reminds me of.

Hint- It would be bad form to commit to Indiana while on a visit to Iowa!!!🤣
