This offer announcement seems like more than your usual statement of gratitude.

“After attending the Women’s Final Four in Dallas in 2023, and watching their dance continue the next year in 2024, I never dreamed I would be talking to the head coach of the Hawkeyes, receiving an offer to play for the University of Iowa. This whole experience feels like a dream and I cannot help but continue to feel so honored and grateful. Thank you for the vote of confidence Coach Jensen.“
~Harper Dunn (July, 2024)

Appears to be exceptionally athletic 6ft6 Center.

How's Sydney Savoury doing? She was offered around the same time as Greenway, and she's a year younger than Greenway.

Bradley only has a visit to LSU on her page. She’s from Louisiana. But she follows the Jan/Bluder, Clark, and even Lucy Olsen. Also Martin, Gustafson.. and Jordan Bohannon!

Dunn, Savoury, and Williams have no visits on their page. Williams and Kate Martin have Aces connections with her dad working for the Aces.

Clark in Wilson’s last pic! Love that she was there!

Here's ESPN's Top 25 for the class: https://www.espn.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/rankings/_/class/2027

One thing that makes this Class tough for Iowa is none of the top 25 are from Iowa or a border state.

Contrast that with 2026 (link here) where 6 of the top 25 players are from Iowa or a border state. Same story so far in 2028 (link here) where again 6 of ESPN's initial 25 names are from Iowa or a border state.

I've held off on posting this thread in part because I don't have a great feel yet for who Iowa's top targets in this class are.

Not that this is a big deal but noticed there's no offer date for Mya Wilson. Could not find an Iowa offer on her TwitterX or IG accounts. However, think we can safely piece a puzzle together here and arrive at an offer date of 10/21/23 if we agree.

Timeline:

On 10/21/23 Kyle Huesmann post a visit by Mya Wilson.
"2027 G Mya Wilson (@MyaWilson2027) out of Maplewood, MN was on a visit to Iowa City today."

On 10/24/23 she has an Offers List post and it includes Iowa. So we know that the offer happened on or prior to that date.

On 7/5/24 this article states, "During an unofficial visit to Iowa City last year [in 2023], Mya Wilson met Clark and received a Hawkeyes scholarship offer."

I think that pretty much narrows the offer down to a date of 10/21/23 assuming she was only here for that one day as Kyle Huesmann's post seems to suggest.

I watched video of Layla, and OMG. She has size as well as agility and quickness. Can run and even bring the ball up the floor. Video of her stealing the ball and scoring on a fast break from half court. She's big, fast and quick.

Good times ahead for Iowa women's basketball.

Altenburg and Wilson both visited Iowa State (unofficials) this past weekend. Minnesota fans claim the Gophers are the leader for Wilson.

I feel like this little exchange was glossed over a little bit:

[I'm still planning on interviewing her this week. We were scheduled to do it Thursday afternoon/night. She eventually wrote me saying 'I just realized that Iowa plays Thursday. I don't really want to miss that' and asked if we could chat on Friday.]

I mean, that's it, that's the interview.
Can't really do better than that for a quote from a recruit.

My Arizona niece was just named to the 1st Team for her high school region in Arizona’s biggest class. I doubt that she gets an all-state mention because her season just ended short of the state tourney. Short of the Caitlin Clark and Finley Chastain’s of the world, when do players start to get looked at? I assume they get on the radar through summer camps and leagues. She’s the sixth highest frosh in Arizona this season.

If she does the summer camp/summer league circuits she will get evaluated. If you really think she has skills I would drop a note to Jan at the Iowa WBB offices.

Her biggest exposure will be on the AAU circuit. What AAU team does she play on? If it is not high profile, she may want to consider a switch.

Great question. Her folks are on top of all that; I’m not, but she’s for Hoopcode out of Arizona on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. I understand that slightly better than I understand Mandarin Chinese. Google found some stuff that didn’t help me understand how high that is.

I'm with you - I don't know Jack about Arizona AAU. But it's a good thing she's already linked to a program. That will mean exposure one way or another.
