Clog the lane and make South Carolina beat you from the outside. Box out on rebounds too. We dont have the size down low so gonna have to use fundamentals to grab the boards.

If SC gets in the 70’s low 80’s like tonight we’re in big trouble. We have to hope for an off shooting night, they’re on fire tonight. Their 6-7 girl is not just some big stiff. Athletic, runs the floor, along with Boston. Bluder has come up with some junk defenses in the last 2 games and forced someone other than the other teams best player to beat you. Not sure what you do against these ladies.
Shoot at a very high percentage,limit turnovers, rebound and force the officials to call fouls on SC.
We can learn a lot from the Maryland / SC game, where SC won by 11 points. SC currently is favored over Iowa by 12.
Maryland overall shot better from the field than SC (50% to 46%). Maryland shot better from three (7 of 14 for 50% vs 6-15 for 40% for SC).
2 key areas where Maryland lost the game and where Iowa must do better:
(1) Foul trouble. Maryland was called for 26 fouls to just 12 for SC. The impact on the game was huge:
* 2 key Maryland players sat during the 2nd quarter, where USC outscored MD 23-9.
* SC outscored MD by 6 at the FT line (16-26 for SC and 10-15 for MD).
Iowa simply cannot afford to get into foul trouble like Maryland did.
(2) Iowa cannot give up offensive rebounds like Maryland did vs SC and what Iowa did vs Colorado (had 21 offensive rebounds).
In the MD/SC game, look at how all of those offensive rebounds resulted in 12 more shot attempts than what MD had:
Offensive rebounds:
25: SC
7: MD
Shot Attempts:
70: SC.....(made 32 of them for 46%)
58: MD....(made 29 of them for 50%)

Agreed. Iowa likes to play uptempo but I think it will play right into Carolina’s hands.
South Carolina showing some firepower and a greater pace than the previous tourney games I caught. Admittedly a lot scarier looking tonight. MD showing some lof the weaknesses that showed in our wins against them, not able to match SC after all…
Take care of the ball, Clark can’t have 10 turnovers again. Shoot lights out. Hope the officials call a fair game(doubtful). Rebound. Rebound. Rebound. Play some great D. Hope for an off shooting night from SC. Clark has to have another amazing game again, obviously.

Iowa tried slowing it down against Georgia to limit turnovers, and it took Clark totally out of her rhythem. We play slow, we lose big to these gals. They'll maul us in the paint. We'll have to push the pace and hit transition shots especially from the perimeter. We'll need another game like last night from CC to hang....
All three of our bigs will have to play a lot of minutes and play well, kinda like the boost Ogundele gave the men against Edey and Purdue in last year's BTT final.

The refs screwed Maryland. Not the sole reason they lost but the fix was in.
Agreed. The scout is simple. Limit turnovers, rebound like a mother fvcker, and pack the lane and force them to beat you outside the paint. The difficulty is executing that plan against a much bigger, more athletic team.
It really comes down to how many points Iowa scores vs SC. Maryland's weakness showed up in that particular stat.

We have a puncher’s chance. Our punch is 3pt shooting. If we’re hot we can stay in the game. If we’re average or worse it will be a loss. We can’t be missing all of the layups like we did this past weekend too. As others said, limit turnovers to below 10. And finally, these last few games exposed our bad defensive rebounding in the zone defense and it will get worse in this game. But it all comes down to shooting.

That seems to be everyones thought. Just don't agree that we can beat the Cocks playing THEIR game. We have to fly. Limit turnovers in reference to Clark is tricky, because she has to play at her pace, and take the risks that her eyes tell her to take. If Lisa has to put Clark on a leash we'll lose this game by double didgets. MC won't score much, but she'll need to concentrate all her efforts on blocking out and getting the boards, especially on defense.
Keep hitting 3's at a high% and have refs that will call the game even, make their bigs run around and defend no way the Hawks can get into ugly low scoring game and expect to win.
Make at least 15 3’s. Get out rebounded by less than 10.

I got bad feeling South Carolina is going to feast on boards and 2nd chance points. This contest is an obvious low post mismatch and potential nightmare for Iowa. If they had lines I would bet heavy SC Over 15 ORB, +20 is possible, would not be surprising.

I like being the underdogs in this one. South Carolina is dominant. It’ll take a heck of a performance to win, but if the Hawks have to lose in this tournament I’d rather they do it going out guns blazing against the best
Gonna be really tough, Even when they don’t have position S.Carolina just uses their size to go over the backs of opponents to keep rebounds alive. Afraid it’s going to take a Villanova vs Georgetown type of performance to win.
Yeah, I’m expecting a 50/50 split. It’s going to be a great atmosphere.
