I believe Raina just started following Olsen on Instagram today. I checked yesterday when the rumor of Olsen in the portal started and Syd was the only Hawkeye that followed her.
So this has to raise some questions about Olivia Olson. Will she rethink Michigan? Iowa recruited her, as did a cornucopia of big programs. If she decommits, does Iowa pursue her, and and does Olivia say yes?
In the recruiting tidbit that likely means nothing category...Michigan's highest rated 24 recruit is Syla Swords from Canada. Hawks are involved with her little sister Savvy who is a 26 wing.
Re: Hagemann. Somewhere on this board (either this thread or the B1G WBB thread) I said Hagemann will probably end up on a middling SEC team with a sh*t offense. Looks like I was right lmao. Ole Miss just hired Quentin Hillsman who was ousted from Syracuse after serious abuse allegations from several former players.

Iowa didn't even make her top 8 when she released it prior to committing and signing with Michigan.

Tara just retired. I’d expect some outbound transfers. I’m doubtful Olson would want to take such a gamble on her last chance at a tourney run.
Iowa State already has a starting PG. Do they not have a SG? She’s not going to join them as a reserve. If there’s a spot, I could see it being attractive, but it’d also be a gamble considering all the volatility of their roster and relative inexperience. They are still a raw team. Bill just sucks too imo but maybe I’m too harsh.
She’d be great at Indiana — who wouldn’t be? They have been missing a true PG for two full seasons, it’s crazy how good they are without one. I’ll be shocked if they don’t find someone in the portal. I’m not sure how many roster spots they have open but they’re bound to be super active bc their program may be in store for some bumpy times (even moreso than us).
I don’t know much about WV other than broad takeaways from our game vs them. Would she thrive in a defensive-minded team like that? I am guessing she likes offense if she is interested in Iowa and Iowa State.

Lucy Olsen can light it up---or light up a room filled with 15,000 people. She would get a lot of love playing in CHA. Would love to see it happen.

So do we think Iowa was in touch before Olsen was in the portal? There were rumors she was entering before it was verified. Someone on Reddit tonight said Kyle was hinting at it before the Final Four. I thought he was hinting at the Scherr recruitment (bc the cryptic tweet that I recall definitely mentioned a huge coaching change as being significant). I could have been wrong or missed something tho, since I don’t pay for H/R.
Crazy how “multiple sources” with knowledge of her mutual interest in Iowa popped up today all at once.
Also what do we make of the fact that over half the team started following Maddie Scherr on IG in one day?? That was pretty crazy tbh. Maybe they did a zoom call to meet the team? Was it close to a done deal til the Brooks hire? If so, why hasn’t she announced she’s staying home yet? That would be the easy choice, all the UK fans are waiting on baited breath hoping she’ll stay…
Oh and…you know team meetings are this week. Are any of our girls headed to the portal?

All these players that hit portal must have looked at Affolter and Martin and Marshall and asked themselves, Hey I'm at least as good as them, why didn't I play in the NCAA final, twice?
Knows how to score, but can she pass? I didn't watch every second of the clip but I think I only saw one assist.
When an athlete tells their school they are entering the portal, the compliance office has up to 72 hours to enter their information. Once they get "permission to contact" from their current school, the athlete can begin communicating with other programs. This could be a case where Hays received everything she needed from Villanova & the NCAA though the NCAA didn't officially have her listed in the portal until a day later. I think your zoom theory on Scherr is exactly what happened. I saw a post about her wanting to wait until Kentucky named a coach, seeing if she fit in their plans, etc before making a final decision to stay or not.
It's a highlight video made by someone on YouTube. I wouldn’t be too concerned.

The rumors don’t stop. If she goes to UConn she will not start and may not get PT. Wonder if she’s more motivated to win a Big East title or play on a bigger stage / start fresh. Different kids have different priorities. If OSU and UConn both want her she must be really special.

Right now Iowa can certainly be a tourney team. Every major B1G team is imploding. We have a decent shot at some good wins next year. We are not a top 25 team IMO (yet — that could change, we shall see, I’m skeptic). With a good pg from the portal, that can change — easily.
I dunno there isn't much of a scoring option outside of HS and she needs to get more than the 1 post move she has...maybe moving to PF will help her with that?

Sydney and Taylor can score. Theyre both 40% 3 pt shooters. Jada can score too, I suspect she will get minutes at the 3/4. Heiden will be new but I expect her to jump ogrady and be hungry. Mallegni will also get minutes at the 2/3 and can score. Their fortunes are rly all about the PG position tbh.

This is just not true. The Collective pays all the WBB players equally. Last year they all had the opportunity to earn $15k and before last season started Brad said a few donors has reached out to bump that up. Brad also mentioned that he calls recruiting targets to fill them in.
Things change but at this time last year Iowa was the only school in the B1G to offer such an opportunity to all members of the WBB roster.

Major rumors going around that a HUGE transfer announcement is imminent. UConn fans scared it’s Paige, USC fans scared it’s JuJu. Others wondering if it’s Kiki/Betts at UCLA.
