Seeing this post reminded me of the senior pg for Marquette.... Rose Nkumu from Iowa City. Not sure if she was ever recruited by Lisa but would be a solid mentor and fill the gap until the youngsters are ready. Fit angle would probably be high.
Averaged almost 5 assist. About 2.5 a/t ratio. 38% from 3 last season. Not bad. Scored 18 in their NCAA loss
Nevermind she posted in insta that she is done with basketball.
Deja would be ideal. Like Hagemann, I don't see it happening however.
See she's a Broadcast Journalism major; Iowa's program is good.
The 4-5 times I watched North Carolina this year, she was terrible. No thanks.

I do think Hagemann could be more likely than Kelly, if only bc Bluder previously recruited her. But I agree both are long shots.
TBH if I’m Bluder, Scherr, Haggeman and Ciezky are my top targets (in that order). All realistic targets that would elevate the team as well.
If none pans out, I say Option D is to try again with Jasmine Brown. She has experience, she has that dog in her, she was more highly regarded than any of other other PGs, there’s a relationship already. It’s insurance as well, as Guyton’s injury could linger — or it can happen again. Best case scenario, we have depth. Multiple athletic ball-handlers is never a bad thing. Itd be different if she was a clear step down from Guyton — at minimum she’s the same level, if not higher level, but with a year of experience to boot.
I don’t think I’d stress about burning a year of eligibility. McGaughy and Speiser are both Forwards anyway, wouldn’t be surprised if one signing precludes the other (and neither is guaranteed). Besides — anyone can transfer out anytime, Ava Jones is still up in the air. Get what the team needs to keep momentum up. I’m sure some might disagree tho. So might Bluder.

If anyone transfers out, I hope Bluder goes for a veteran PF as well.
Both the players who entered today really didn't play much. I would lean towards them realizing if they wanted PT, it would have to be somewhere else. They each gave it at least 2 years so they should aware of their spot on the roster. I don't see him running kids off on purpose but you never know 🤷♂️

Oregon State WBB may be a victim of CFB realignment. Gardiner would be a killer in Iowa's offense though I doubt there's an Iowa connection. However if Raegan Beers enters the portal I think you have to at least reach out right away to gauge interest.
Transfer PG is Bluder's primary objective right now. If another scholarship does open I wouldn't just assume Iowa goes after a big especially if the staff is high on Heiden as a freshman.

I didn’t realize she was a point. 2 years of eligibility left. Wonder how she feels about Iowa. As a European, her POV could be different from that of a typical kid. She might appreciate the crowds and campus feel of Iowa City — the respect for wbb / engaged fandom rivals if not exceeds that of Storrs at this point.
I would guess that it’d be impressive to tell your friends back home that you’re stepping in for Caitlin Clark…I have to assume that bball players abroad are much less jaded/jealous of the Iowa phenomenon than a diehard ACC/SEC kid who thinks they’re just a bunch of overhyped white kids. I know it’s a long shot but I’m intrigued by that one.

Looks like Indiana is all over her. Sydney Parrish is posting gifs of Mackenzie Holmes on her IG post announcing the news lol. Crazy, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Hawkeye do that.

Need a big to go along with Heiden. I want to see Hannah at the 4 and I want to be able to give bigs adequate rest during a game without slipping back on the floor.
I agree.....I think she needs to go center or larger forward.
They won't bring in a post or interior 4 unless someone on the current roster leaves. It's fairly clear by who the staff is following that PG is their primary concern.

This is the plan for 2025, it’s why Bluder wants Hays so bad. For 2024, Bluder is clearly looking for a PG bc that’s the biggest need. We have ogrady, edigar, Stuelke, Heiden who can all play the 5. We have no one who can play the 1.
I'm sure Lisa would like to find an experienced PG to start the season. I think Stremlow and Levin both have PG skills, but starting a freshman at PG who isn't Clark or Hidalgo is a tall order. I honestly don't think KJE will ever see the floor much at Iowa. I could see her wanting to transfer somewhere should could play. And not to be cruel, but we could def make good use of the scholarship.

Thanks for this! I mean that could very well be true. How would a source know what Iowa is doing tho? I’ve never heard of a source at Iowa sharing stuff.
Unless they just reportedly told her that she’s their top priority and now she’s just spilling. Iowa could have told all their targets that tbh.
I don't think Levin has enough quickness to be a starting PG in the B1G. She would seem to project more at the 2 IMO.
Agreed, I'm a little suspicious of "insider info", esp after the Betts gossip. So unless someone got this directly from Olsen herself, I'm doubtful. Even so, Iowa's interest does not translate to Olsen's interest.
I just watched some tape of her state tourney play, she def has skills as a primary ball handler, and as a 2. I don't think she'll end up being PG1 for Iowa, but I can absolutely see her as a PG2, or as an effective second 2G. Maybe even a 3, she seems to have gotten bigger. She may not have blazing speed, but like Stremlow, she has a degree of strength and toughness that remind me a lot of Affolter. I think we're going to like both of them on the squad.

I think the earliest mention of Iowa keying on a big time PG in the portal predated the Lucy Olsen announcement. Of course that doesn't mean there wasn't contact before she officially entered the portal.
