Iowalaw's Objective Post Game Thoughts: MSU

Everyone here knows "run up the middle" is not literally the name of a play, including Iowalaw. But thank God we have Muskie here to bestow his infinite football knowledge upon us. Iowalaw gets a lot more right on this board than you do quite frankly.
You really believe you speak for 'everyone' and what they know, lol. I believe that is a form of mental disorder. The only person you can speak for is yourself and from reading your posts, you know very little, You obviously have not been following my post if you believe that he gets 'more right'. Make sure you make a full analysis of our posts and predictions before offering any more worthless opinions. Is 'everyone' going to help you do that, lol.

You're a good troll. I'll give you that.

That's laughable and nice try. I suppose Hitchens spent all his time taking on blockers instead of attacking ball carriers. Anthony had 13.5 TFLs, 2 sacks and and int his senior year... pretty amazing considering he was 'occupying blockers' per you. Keep the excuses coming though.
Where did I say that Hitchen was occupying blockers his senior year? Where did I say anything about Hitchens at all? You do realize they have changed the scheme for the LB's some since Reid left, don't you? I don't believe I said that Bower was as good as Hitchens his senior year. Keep the assumptions not based in fact coming though.

Can you please provide evidence that the pass blocking is better? Can you please provide evidence about chemistry? Can you please provide evidence that they are missing line calls? The same kind of evidence you are asking for please.

You obviously have some issues with other people stating their own opinions.. you can say and preach what you want, and believe anything your little mind can imagine, but other posters/Hawk Fans, just want to see something different from the Hawks. I "think" a lot of what they are saying has solid ground behind it. The example I'll use is Johnson last year, assuming he is supposed to take on blockers and force double teams to free the linebackers, "since that is his job".. he sure seemed to be a playmaker all year despite that. I expect more from the coaches and players at this point in Ferentz's career, we shouldn't even be having this discussion.

"Let's just chalk this one up to another instance where we had the talent to win the game but we were out hustled and out coached."

And that view of talent...does it come from your opinion, from media, from message boards, based on results of the Penn State game instead of the Wyo, IaSt, N.Texas game, or what? I believe Iowa plays to the talent it has. There is so much hype and longing at the beginning of the season that it gets over played. I agree they out-talented MSU in some areas but remember you are working with primarily 2 and 3 star kids. Setting development and coaching aside MSU has much more talented kids coming in. It's dangerous for one to look at talent through rose colored glasses. Blocking, tackling, catching, throwing, and kicking are leading indicators of talent and many times team speed is overlooked. Taking away the one or two speedy guys, Iowa has, MSU out hustled Iowa because they had more team speed. I agree on the coaching.

Opinions are worthless by their very definition, especially uninformed ones. As a surgeon I'm sure you understand.

How is it possible after seeing Bower play almost every down at Iowa for the past 3.5 years that anyone could have such blind faith in Ferentz that they wouldn't at least question whether we might have recruited a BETTER LB in the past 5 years who deserves to play a few snaps in place of Bower? Wadley doesn't play every down. Vandenberg doesnt. Our defensive line switches out. So why does Bower and his 3 tackles per game play every game, start to finish? He even plays with the backups during blowouts. Is Ferentz trying to "give him experience," despite being a senior? Are Aaron Mends or Kristian Welsch that far below Bower that Bower deserves 100% of the snaps to their 0%? Is Bower playing sooooo well that we cannot afford to be without him for a few snaps?

In any event, this looks like a case where we won't know what we have at LB until Bower gets hurt or graduates...which was the case last year when we found out that our backup safety and backup CB were far better than the starters, but they didn't get the chance to play until injury.

That's his job, dummy. There are 5 O-linemen and 4 D-linemen. In simple terms, The Will LB almost always takes on the 5th linemen to keep the Mike clean to make plays. I could go into a lot more detail of the reads and responsibilities of the LB's if you'd like. We played solid defense (especially in the second half) where the only big hick-ups in the whole game came from our safeties making bad reads and blowing coverage, but you guys are going to once again, attempt to blame 'something' on Bower. It gets old, especially from people that obviously have no idea what they're ever talking about. Iowa Law is one of the most clueless on this board, so I would suggest disregarding anything he says.

You don’t know what the schiltz you’re talking about and your ramblings are purely agonizing to read. It’s painfully obvious the closest you’ve been to D1 football is on GameDay with that 12” black and white Panasonic vying for real estate on your lap next to the paper plate of greasy chicken wings and the burrito that feel out of the corner of your mouth like a cigarette butt.

Iowa just needs to play Hawkeye football and stick to their game plan by taking care of their assignments on both sides of the ball. If they execute they’ll make room to operate. Stanley needs to call his own number sometimes to open things up and then buy the whole line dinner afterwards.

We’ve had too many missed assignments and blown coverages. I’m sure Ferentz wishes he had both the PSU and MSU games back. Obviously you don’t realize this is a game of field position and players leave it on the field. Take it from me the locker room looks like a MASH unit every Saturday night.

You’re welcome rookie.

Wasn't Bower second string in 2015? Got beat out that year by Fisher.

Trust me, I know a lot about football and I've never played a video game in my life. What is it exactly that I said that you are arguing about? You're post doesn't seem to correspond to anything I've posted.

LOL... Ragumba was 'far' better than Mabin? You have no credibility, and that statement seals it. Ragumba made a few plays against Michigan, but you seem to forget he was burnt 3 times but they couldn't complete the pass. Ragumba is not playing well this year, I'm not sure he would be starting even if he was healthy. Bower's 3 tackles a game? LOL...He was second on the team and 19th in the conference in tackles last year with 7 a game. There are at LEAST 42 starting LB's in the B1G (depending on whether they play 4-3 or 3-4) so he is in about the top third of LB's in the conference in tackles (Not everyone ahead of him on the list is a LB), so not only is he better than the LB's behind him, he's better than over half of the LB's in the conference (you are the on bringing stats into this). He is 2nd on the team in tackles this year avg. 6 a game. You do know how to figure averages, don't you? Neimann had 2 tackles last game, so he must have 2 tackles a game? LOL....And should be benched? I hope you're really not a lawyer, but then again, most lawyers are morons.

Actually, Mrs. Bower, Bo has a grand total of just 10 solo tackles this entire season. That ranks him not just behind LBs Jewell and Niemann, but also behind Taylor, Jackson, Hooker, Hesse, Nelson, Ojemudia, and Rugumba. That's right, he's 10th on the team in solo tackles despite playing every down at a position destined to rack up tackles. Matt Hankins has 1/3 of that, and he's only played a hand full of downs all season. How about Bo's tackles for loss? His fellow LB Jewell has 8.5. Fellow LB Niemann has 2.5. What about your son? He has .5, after diving in on a tackle where the guy was already in the grasp of Anthony Nelson.

So once again I reiterate the question...don't we have anyone qualified to play even a few snaps per game of Bower's position? I'm not saying Bower needs to be benched forever, but why does his union card say that he's guaranteed to play every down for the Hawks. I get that Bo is a nice, hard working, corn fed Iowan, which is what Kirk loves more than talent, but a head coach isn't supposed to play favorites, is he? I'd love to see what Mends can do out there...he was Iowa's lone bright spot in the bowl game last year, but hasn't seen the field this year (again).

I agree give someone else a shot in place of bo. our defense has been below average all year.

You're really sad. And I know you're not an attorney. Even a bad attorney could present a reasonable argument. You, like a woman, have just tried to create a new argument (with more insults) to deflect from you losing the last one. I'm disbarring you. Get a new name. Court adjourned. Next case.....

Yeah I think you're right. I liked Fisher. He was solid.
Yes, Fisher had a good senior year. Bower was the back up for Fisher and Neimann and played quite a lot as Neimann was hurt a couple times. When Jewell had to leave a game (it happened a couple times) they moved Fisher to Mike and Bower played Will.
