That was previously a bye week for the Hawkeyes.

2017

9/2 - Wyoming
9/9 - at Iowa State
9/16 - North Texas
9/23 - Penn State
9/30 - at Michigan State
10/7 - Illinois
10/14 - BYE
10/21 - at Northwestern
10/28 - Minnesota
11/4 - Ohio State
11/11 - at Wisconsin
11/18 - Purdue
11/24 - at Nebraska

Great, considering a Week 7 bye midseason is better than a Week 4 bye before nine straight Big Ten games.

Question, the 2016 schedule, what happens to at Rutgers that was originally set for Sept 24th?

Nice schedule to be breaking in a new quarterback. Oh well, deal with it when it comes.

Crap and I had it all planned out to go to this game now I can't go. Way to go Barta!

I guess if you include the 9th Big 10 game as a 4th non-conference game (let's say PSU in this case), then it's not so bad. Maybe we can get out of the North Texas game now that McCarney is gone.

Well we're still playing Iowa State...

Yeah, let's win big this year and next, because 2017 looks challenging. We draw PSU, OSU, and MSU from the East ... but what about Indiana, Rutgers, and Maryland?

Only way to do so is to play 6 home, 6 away, or to drop Iowa State.
Not sure why this is so hard for some people to figure out.

Our non-conference is really no different than other teams, and we WOULD have another P5 team on the schedule if we weren't gonna move to 9 conference games. We've always had two "patsy" home games (and Iowa State) on the schedule. Nothing has changed there..........

Thanks to Iowa for helping in this scheduling change. It seems like a good thing for both sides.

Iowa gets to start conference play with a home game, plus now has the mid-season bye week.

PSU had a stretch of 5 consecutive weeks where the schedule was at Northwestern, at Iowa, Michigan, at Ohio State and at Michigan State. 4 road games among 5 consecutive weeks, especially against those types of foes, is a total meat-grinder and moving the Iowa game lessens that particular stretch of the year.

You're welcome. Just make sure we win that game. Thank you. :D
