Jordy said it, so it must be true!!!

Tshimanga said the game plan was working smoothly early as the 6-foot-11, 275-pound center bulled his way to the basket against 6-9, 253-pound Tyler Cook and 6-8, 249-pound Cordell Pemsl.

I thought these big men were way more softer than the guys I’ve been playing in past games,” Tshimanga said. “I could tell a difference.”

Then why did you lose? At any rate, Iowa uses their big men in a motion offense. Our big men play all over the court, not just in the neighborhood of Tshimanga. And, yeah, we have some front court youngies-- freshmen teenagers and sophs-- not old men like Tsh... And, hey-- maybe they are smart enough not to get overly-rough and get five fouls! (and would our bigs say "more softer?" Tish, tish.)

You?

Barking up the wrong tree bro. My Shockers pummeled #31 RPI Illinois State by 41 on Saturday night.

Huskers suck!!!

I didn't know you Herks were so sensitive over here. Who ever said the Shockers were royalty?

And yes, I live in Omaha and put up the Fuskers crap constantly, I read the Weird Herald and thought you might like to see NU's centers comments. Forgive me if I've ruffled any feathers....

No feathers ruffled,... Thanks for posting the article.

By the way, I kind of like your Shockers as well. Watched them knock off Kansas a couple years ago in the NCAA tournament game at Omaha. One of the loudest college games I've ever attended....

He was a little soft upstairs, with that 5th foul.

Yeah, bodying up a PG who you outweigh by 100 pounds 25 feet from the basket isn't a good idea.

In addition, Webster's 3 fouls on Jok under the basket near the end, then look at the ref like "why'd you call that?".

I think Webster was asking, "I'm trying to foul now, you don;t have to ignore it like you have all game. How hard do you want me to foul him?".
I kind of agree with this. There seemed to be a lot of contact above the shoulders during this game and a couple of loose ball situations that looked more like a scrum where nothing was called so at the end of the game, the officials didn't call the intentional stuff that NE was doing to stop the clock. I don't know if Miles did this, but normally you see the coach tell the officials that we are going to foul but we don't want it to be a tackle before you call anything either.

"way more softer" sounds about coming from lincoln :D

how do you foul out vs a bunch of softies? especially playing less than 20 minutes?

They should get called more often with as much as they slap at the ball on defense. Guys are slapping hand and arm and the officials just stop calling it.

Who said anything about having feathers ruffled? We have a Shocker fan, posting about Nebraska, then trying to whip it out on a Hawkeye board. Surely you can see how silly that is.

Probably shouldn't have said it after a loss, but the guy did get screwed on at least 2 phantom calls. Typical college refs I guess. His 5th foul was really stupid on his part, however. Him having to sit out the minutes he did won Iowa the game.

Cook didn't look too soft schooling his a%% on the block. Talented kid, but work on your game and not your smack-talking. Might be a good fit for ISU if he decides to transfer given he can be critical after losing a game.

There were a ton of times he shouldve been called for offensive fouls trying to establish position. You cannot extend your arm putting your fist in a defenders chest to clear out space; he did this constantly.

Trying to whip it out? LMAO. I was merely stating we beat a good team this weekend. You want me to "whip it out"??? Okay, The Shox have done more in the NCAA tourney the last few years then the Hawkeyes have done the last few decades. I whipped it out, and now you may suck it, TT

This shows the difference between Miles the Cry Baby ...and Fran. Cannot imagine an Iowa player making this sort of statement public (even if they thought it) under Fran.

I commented in the McVeigh thread about watching a game with Rule 10 in the NCAA rulebook handy. Both offensive and defensive use of hands and arm bars is something I was referring to. I get not making a call if there is no advantage gained (offense leaning back into the defensive player and neither is moving). But you see guys use the Charles Barkley Butt Scoot backing maneuver on offense and the defensive 2 hand shove to counter. Those are both fouls.

Oh man you're right...you really showed me. Congrats on your victory over the Red Birds though. I'm sure it'll go down in annals of college basketball as one of the biggest upsets of all time. That paired with your 164th ranked strength of schedule will surely cement the 2016/17 version of the Shox as one of the greatest teams of all time. Lots to be excited about in Kansas.

I looked at Nebraska's roster. Roby is 6'8 and Jacobson is 6'9, so they could throw big bodies out there. Pemsl is supposed to be 6'8, but is he really? He doesn't seem like it. I thought their bigs were an inch or 2 taller than Pemsl when they were standing near each other.

Our guys ARE soft compared to many 4's and 5's in the B1G. But they are freshman. They won't be that way for long.

Skinny little Baer should not be our rim defender and top rebounder. Where are Cook and Wagner?

When I rewatched the game, I tried to pay attention to the Iowa bigs when it came to defensive rebounds (after the other thread about 5 rebs).

It looked like that the Iowa bigs did a decent job of boxing out and clearing out the Neb bigs so that Jok, Baer, and Bohannon could get the boards. While Wagner and Cook may not get direct credit for the rebounds, I thought they helped.

Plus Baer just has a nose for where the ball is going to be. Baer hustles every play and positions himself well.
