Iowa's Big Men "Soft" Says Nebraska Center

Like I said, The Shox have done more in the NCAA tourney in the last few years, then Iowa in the last few decades.

Iowa, last Sweet Sixteen 1999, last Final Four 1980
WSU, last Sweet Sixteen 2015, last Final Four 2013

Tom, if I want more lip off you, I'll go right to my zipper and scrape it off
too bad they play in a crap conference that is lucky to have 2 decent teams in it

Oh man I remember 6th grade. I was 12 and touched my first boob.

All hail the Shockers. They are undefeated against us in the tournament.

Played where, ladies and gentlemen? Why, their home court of course.

I watched that game, remember it well. Serious case of home cooking as I recall.

When you see 6'9, 250 lb Cook and 6'8, 250 lb Pemsl with a 5 rebound per game avg, each.......soft is probably the word I would use to describe them.

So Scout what description would you use for a 6'11'' 275 lb player averaging 3 rebounds per game?

Right. And they basically won that game when Lute Olson called a TO we didn't have and they went to the FT line for the tech and then got the ball back.

Yesterday news.....

This shows the difference between Miles the Cry Baby ...and Fran. Cannot imagine an Iowa player making this sort of statement public (even if they thought it) under Fran.

"We're tired of losing to teams we're better than." - Aaron White, 2013, post-loss to Wisconsin

the only source I see for that quote is from an article by Patrick Vint...
Patrick Vint is a known liar... incapable of telling the truth about anything.

can you find a source... other than somebody who constantly lies... that shares that same quote?

I think to White's credit... he wasn't referring to any one single team...
his statement appears more general than specific... which is contrary to other statements we have heard recently.
~thanks

He said it in his postgame comments after a loss to Wisconsin...I don't think there is any debate who he was talking about.

"We're tired of losing to teams we're better than."

teams is plural... meaning more than one team.
if you participate in a debate... and you take the position that White was referring to one team... you will lose that debate.
if you want to include Wisconsin, then that is fair.
but to suggest he is only referring to Wisconsin is unfair.

making a general statement is far better than making a specific statement against one particular team.

this is much different that other statement we have heard this year... and an acceptable statement.

it is acceptable because he is not singling out any one team.
you can't say that about other statements we have heard this season.

Our guys ARE soft compared to many 4's and 5's in the B1G. But they are freshman. They won't be that way for long.
There's nothing soft about Cook, he just hasn't figured out how to use all that power yet. For being so called soft, he sure backed the big boy down and scored on him on the low block on several occassions.

Who cares? I think the more pressing concern is that a Badger fan was evidently hurt enough by White's comment, which (I'm guessing) the vast majority of Hawkeyes fans didn't even remember, to make their first post on the Iowa board in 13 years about it.

I see,.... so you're a Shocker fan who comes to a Hawkeye board to talk about the Huskers,... interesting.

Of course he is, he is just like the rest of the Nebraska fans.

They like Nebraska football but realize they are garbage in basketball so they like Creighton, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, and I guess Wichita State now.

Or the flip side. Live in Kansas and can't stand KU, so they cheer for Nebraska football and any good basketball team in the region that's not Kansas. Ton of Nebraska football bandwagon fans in Kansas.

Correct, but it was kind of true after several of the Iowa vs. Wisky games that Aaron White played in, Iowa pissed away some very winnable games.

Couple things to unpack. First and foremost, my response was in direct response to a "I could never imagine a Hawks player saying that" when it's pretty much exactly the same thing said in exactly the same situation.

Second, White's quote is a meme on Badger boards for its hilarity - makes us smile every time. Not too concerned about our standing in the college basketball hierarchy vis a vis Iowa - it was cute, in a Monty Python's black Knight kind of way.

Glad you Badger fans still get amusement from something a sophomore in college said four years later
