Is the GOP a Cult?

And FTR, I really want to believe there are still good people in the GOP that just don't see it...

However, I see less and less evidence to that. Good people don't ignore or excuse s****y policies because "it's just the one thing". They would call it out and demand people who aren't s****y replace them, regardless of party.

I think most fanatical groups have elements that make them akin to a cult. Unquestioning loyalty to a person or a belief is the primary element of any cult. You could argue that today's GOP has a lot of that with regards to Trump. It has become a cult of personality where unquestioned loyalty to him has become a party requirement. The left has a bit of that as well but it doesn't revolve around a single leader, rather a set of ideas.

Since you're so big on popularity polling on issues and such...

In a Feb. 16 memo, the firm told Democrats to take "the win" on Covid, warning that by 49 percent to 24 percent, Americans are more concerned about it causing economic harm than infecting them or a family member, and that far more parents and teachers worry about learning loss than illness for their kids.

You were a member of the cult and minority then, weren't you?

LOLWUT?

This year, AFTER vaccines have been out, I've been IN FAVOR of loosened restrictions/mitigations as infection rates have fallen.

If we get another winter surge, that can change.

It's not just politics. There are a group of people on the football board that despite the overwhelming evidence, just can't acknowledge that Kirk Ferentz is totally incompetent at putting together an offense and that hiring his no experience son for OC and QB coach was a ridiculous display of nepotism.

They say you aren't a fan or should go root for another team if you dare suggest their dear captain should be able to consistently deliver an O above the bottom 25 pct of fbs offenses. It's pretty sad

A rare sight....Trumpists calling out white supremacists. Next step is figuring out the white supremacists are the party. Then after that is leaving the party.
