He wanted to add Boston College and Temple to the conference for greater Big Ten TV exposure and divide the divisions on the basis of alphabetical order. However, the folks in the conference administration could not agree on which teams would be in which division if his recommendation was followed. He was blamed for creating the resulting dissension ... so he quit!
