is Wisconsin the best team in the B1G?

I hate Wisconsin.... but you have to be honest and admit they are the most dominant program in the Big Ten in the last 6 years, since the Conference added Nebraska and played a Championship Game.
(4 Division Titles in 6 seasons)

Wisconsin is 30-7 (in conference play) over the last 3+ years.
that's the 2nd best over this period of time.

if Iowa is going back to the Championship Game...
they have to do better than Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is enemy #1

Most dominant team in the BIG? Um no, one of their trips was because two teams were on probation ...they lost four or five games that year and beat Nebraska in their only title appearance. They lost 59 to nothing to the eventual National Champions and only made it to the title game last year because the West was bullocks.

Here is the pecking order of BIG teams in the last six years
1. tOSU- two trips one title, one National title and two appearances in the playoff.

2. MSU - Four appearences, 3 titles and a birth in the playoffs.

3. Wisconsin- 4 appearences, two titles, Cotton bowl wins over Western Michigan and Baylor.

4. Penn State- One appearence, one title and a trip to the Rose Bowl.

Also Ohio State has lost a total of five BIG games since coming in '12. Three of them to Michigan State. My numbers may be slightly off but that's pretty tough to top. MSU is only higher because of their number of titles which has come in the far tougher EAST. Wisconsin is the best team in the West by far.

The west conference gives Wisconsin an easy road to the division title every year IMHO. With OSU, Mich, PSU, and sometimes a strong MSU all in the east, the relative strength of the two divisions is unbalanced. With no disrespect to Iowa, the west division is lacking the depth of strong teams, especially since Nebraska has become very mediocre. I suppose the Big10 would never split OSU and Mich into two different divisions in order to protect their "marquee" game, but this is what is needed really. Perhaps when they add 2 more teams to go to 16, they could rearrange things. Add Notre Dame to the West and Virginia Tech to the East. I know that probably won't happen, but it would be fun if it did.

all that is absolute unadulterated bullsp*t

Nebraska Iowa and Wisconsin have all played in the Championship games.... they are strong teams with strong programs.

They don't have to play the stronger teams in the East every year. In most years, aside from Wisconsin, none of the teams in the west are as strong as Michigan or OSU, and now Penn State is also in that caliber. Michigan State has fallen from the top ranks, but is still decent as you saw yesterday. Even Maryland beats Minn. yesterday and seems to be improving. I'm just saying that the teams in the east have a tougher gauntlet to run through to make it to the championship, and aside from Wisconsin, none of the teams in the west are as strong as the top 3 in the east. Of the top 4 teams in the Big10, only 1 is in the west. I'd rather it be split more evenly.

the Divisions are split more equally than what you are imagining.
of the 6 Championship games played in the Big Ten...
Wisconsin represents 4
Iowa 1
Nebraska 1

Michigan State 3
Ohio State 2
Penn State 1

Michigan 0

I may be basing my opinion on the past 2 years (and projections for the next few) rather than older history. It seems to me that OSU has been the best team for quite a while, but that's changing as we saw last year. I still think it would be more balanced with OSU in the west.

well... if you base it on the last 2 years... Ohio State hasn't been in the Championship game.... and I doubt they are this year either.

Last two times they've played Ohio state outscored Wisconsin 89-23. Won last year in Madison and 2014 in Indianapolis.

Yup...Wisconsin is clearly better.

I'm sure not an OS or Wis fan but come on guys winning the West isn't really winning a division compared to the East. MSU had more talent Sat but they'll have trouble competing year after year.

OSU won a national championship in 2015, played in the CF playoffs last year without the B10 championship, and will be in the running along with Mich and PSU this year. Really ever since Urban arrived, they've been at or very near the top. They continue to recruit exceptionally well and will likely remain an elite team. Michigan and Penn State are now at their level, but OSU has been one of the best teams in the country for awhile.

Naw Dantonio is 2-3 against Urbie. Since 2012 OSU has actually only lost three times to another B1G team. MSU in 2013 and 2015. PSU in 2016.

When MSU beat OSU in 2015 that was the first regular season conference game they've lost since 2011.

The OP is obviously being facetious with his post. Wisconsin better than Ohio State with four BIG losses and a National title since '12. Two playoff appearances.....C'mon man!

With that said they have an incredible coach.Paul Chryst will be a wanted man at LSU or Tennessee after this year. Better lock him down Barry.
