I Admit I went into this game not having watched SC very much this year. I expected a juggernaut , but after seeing them live it really is about their height and not much more..
Their perimeter game is shaky at best , and overall I just wasn’t that impressed .Maybe I’m off base here but it seems like they were only in the game because of garbage put backs. Am I missing something?

I commented the same last night. I think that’s the style that Staley says is deliberate, which is fine/her choice and philosophy and obviously has worked. But they took 20 more shots than we did but didn’t make that many more and their passing was erratic, too. Staley made it sound like they didn’t play their game, so maybe they’re better than looked. But imagine Iowa had something to do with it!!

What she may not realize is Iowa didn't play/shoot close to their best. If Iowa plays like a did against osu in the big tourney, we would have buried them. Height doesn't help when you are watching the ball fly from the three and in the net. They had a lot to do with our paint scoring but not the shooting.

After South Carolina beat Maryland, I thought Iowa had a shot. They came across as beatable to me and I felt the main reason SC won that game was because Maryland got gassed in the second half. Now, that is part of the South Carolina strategy, so I don't want it to sound like they got lucky. That was part of the plan. Anyway, I felt Iowa had a good shot and keeping up with that though just based on what I'd seen them do over the season.

What I find really surprising is that evidently nobody else in the SEC seemed to think about forcing South Carolina to beat them from outside while clogging the up the lane for their bigs. Maybe that's where the "disrespectful" comment came from. Or, maybe they did try to do this but they just didn't have enough offense to overcome the huge advantage that SC has with rebounding, which is virtually impossible to take away. Iowa had Caitlin Clark though, so we did have enough offense to overcome their rebounding advantage.

I think I saw SC had 30 field goals but only 9 assists. Conversely Iowa had 28 FGs and 14 assists which is actually low for us I think. Just one more data point on the SC shoot, offensive rebound, putback offense.

I was surprised they didn’t just one dribble in and shoot an open FT line jump shot more often. High percentage shot and still good chance for a rebound. I think Staley got out-coached bigtime!

You do not win 43 games in a row without being a great team.
Why not just acknowledge that Iowa pulled off one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history?
CC has never denigrated USC..even today in her presser. Always gushing about their greatness.

That’s because, unlike some players and coaches, she has class…

Iowa played great and deserved to win. But I think Staley made 2 huge blunders. First error was putting Boston in "2-foul jail" for most of the first half. Second was having their bigs follow the Iowa bigs up to the high post, opening up the lane for Clark drives.
