It has become a farce

None of these numbers are right--you guys know that google is free, right?

Fran makes $3.2 million which makes him the 13th highest paid coach in a 14 team league--only Ben Johnson at Minnesota makes less than him. Just for context, Mike Rhoades who Penn State hired just this last year makes $3.7 million/year so that's the ballpark starting salary for Big Ten schools--even ones who don't really care about hoops.

Otz makes $3 million but that will increase by half a mill every year for the next couple of years, so he will be making more than Fran starting next season.

I did Google it.

Fran fooled Iowa fans for awhile. We were just starved for any amount of success after Todd. After a few years, fans realized this team is fundamentally awful everywhere and plays zero defense. Sure there have been some nice wins in the regular season, but come tournament time you aren’t doing shit with the way Fran’s teams play. Fans have more than realized that and that’s why interest for mens bball is so down.

Considering the Hawks' struggles in Happy Valley and everything else going on this season, I sat this one out completely.

Did something a lot more productive with that 2 hours. Didn't have any holiday lights to take down, but still used the time wisely.
I watched, but with almost no emotion. As much as I try....I just don't care anymore.

Old information--the article doesn't take into account the extensions/increases that Collins and Pike received last year + Woodson got a $1 million raise in August making him one of the higher paid coaches in the league. Not to mention, they don't list Rhoads in this article, who as mentioned, was signed to about $3.7 million per year.

So yes, previously he was 9th. He is now 13th only ahead of Johnson.

Plus, when the 4 Pac-12 schools join, 3 of the 4 of them make more than Fran. However, Washington is almost certainly going to fire Hopkins this spring and it's likely that whoever the hire will sign on to make more. So he's about to be 17th out of 18.

Fran is a clueless coach. Bad subs, doesn't call time outs. He thinks he is some basketball savant and he's not. The only thing he is above average at is inbound plays.

I'd argue talent evaluation and development is actually pretty high. Weezy, White, Cook, Garza, Murray and Murray all at least got a stint in the NBA under his watch. Have to credit that.

The timeouts, end of half situations, defensive philosophy, rebounding, physicality, anger issues... yeah go ahead after those.

I can agree with your top statement. The problem about that though is he played PMAC above both Murrays...
