On TOS, one of John Milner's expert analysts, Schwarck or something, wrote an article ripping
Captain Kirk and calling for his job. Is that clown still employed, over there??

All Kirk Ferentz did was become Coach of the Year in the Big10 and won the
Big10 West.

As I recall, many of us on this board were also very upset with Kirk's performance and wanted him gone. I don't fault Miller for that article nor do I fault the fan base for being upset. I was one of the doubters and I am happy to be proven wrong. Go Hawks!

I don't understand why you say he was wrong? As the post before stated, Iowa was coming off of a pretty mediocre stretch. There was lots of questioning from a multitude of directions.

The fact that CJ had such a great year added to that, because the 5 yard passes on 3rd and 8 didn't exactly do much to quell the criticism.

Coach Ferentz would have to leak Classified info to be let go by the Univ of Iowa.

He's a total Class act, so having some reprobrate on TOS call for his job, is WRONG.

Kirk will be in the hall of fame when he's done coaching at Iowa. It was disappointing how 2014 ended and the way they played especially after being viewed as a dark horse candidate in 2014 after going 8-4 in 2013 with a really tough schedule. The teams Iowa lost to in 2013 went 46-9. Kirk made some changes, there was much better leadership in 2015 and most importantly Iowa had a much better qb and the linebackers improved a ton.

It was a very reasonable claim to make, especially for our program. Extremely underachieving with a very talented team in 2010 and averaging 6.5 wins (losing all 3 bowl games) in the four years following that seems like grounds for a coaching change. We all knew what Kirk was capable of and he didn't come close to it for 5 seasons.

I thought Kirk was done if we lost to Iowa State. Judging by his reaction in the post-game, he did too. We all saw what happened once this team lost - their 'team of destiny' mentality was gone, and they played like shit against Stanford. I think if we had lost to Iowa State, we might have won 7 games.

But, we didn't. Kirk is still employed, and will be until he retires.

I can't believe nobody pointed this out... KF was successful as a result of people calling for his job. We forced all of the changes. Duh

Being a KF supporter and getting ripped for it, last season was gratifying. Was nice to see people have to eat crow. Of course some tried to make it seem the wins only came because people were yelling and screaming Fire Ferentz.

Don't forget about the people who canceled their season tickets. They clearly were the main reason why Kirk and the team decided to try harder last year and win more games.

There was subtle coaching changes such as the new punt formation that was very effective and practice schedule. The biggest change was the work in the weight room, the player leadership(Ott, Lomax,CJ, Blythe), getting rid of the "me" players, and the young guys buying in. The criticism of head coaches comes with the job. The Kirk doesn't care, players don't play for him, MAC talent is what wasn't fair. Bottom line is players have to make plays! They did last year and feel good about 2016!

Not kneeing it out at the end of every half was nice. Iowa had approximately 65 points to 0 points for opponents with less than 2 min to go in the first half in the regular season.

SOME people that don't have their heads up Kirk's rear have been griping about this for a decade.

Glad they were all vindicated!

Play to win! #ATTACK
