It'd Be One Thing If This Was A Road Loss

Losing at home to Indiana hurts across the board. It could literally move Iowa from a 1 seed to a 3 seed. Iowa will be done in the first round of the tournament if they play like this.

Teams lose games ... The World Champion Lakers with LeBron and Anthony Davis led the Golden State Warriors (500 team) at home by 14 early in the 4th quarter and led by 9 with 5:52 left. The Warriors went on 15-2 run and won the game by 2 (in LA).

Let's see how Iowa reacts to this game. By the way, the Lakers went to Milwaukee and beat Giannis and the Bucks in their next game. :)

Michigan lost to Minnesota by 25. Does that mean Michigan is a bad team, that it will be a low seed in the tourney, that its chances to win the Big Ten title are gone? Asking for a friend.... ;)

Yes, it was a bad, stunning loss that's almost impossible to explain. But it happened. Teams lose games. Every team--well, every team that plays in a conference as tough as the Big Ten.

If you look at Indiana, they are two shots away from being a Top 25 team. They lost in double OT to Wisconsin. Indiana is pretty good, and Iowa, obviously, came out flat and never was able to recover. That's sports. It's not like we're about to be overrun by domestic terrorists. It's just basketball.

I am confident the Hawkeyes will make up for it by winning @ Illinois.

BTW: Although it feels worse to lose at home, the fact is that a loss is a loss, no matter where it happens.

Home court advantages this year are almost nonexistent. I think the game was officiated more like it was Indiana’s home court. Indiana has lost a couple at home this season and hopefully Iowa can add to that total.

Once again, I wouldn't sweat the loss. If it exposed weaknesses, there's time to correct them. Both Iowa and Illinois are still ranked high in the Sagarin computer rankings, which I use as an unbiased analysis. Iowa is still #3 and Illinois is at #6. That would equate to a #1 and #2 seeding in the NCAA tourney, but who knows what the dopey NCAA Selection Committee will do. I wouldn't worry about that. No matter what, you've got to win or go home. Both teams are positioned to make deep runs.

Very few teams are going to win any game in which they replicate their worst game of the season. Especially if said worst performance is a dramatic outlier.

I would not rate that very high on a list of likely scenarios for any team.

I just watched the game...

Just when I got my hopes up that a BiG title may materialize. Looks like another top half finish, maybe a Sweet 16 at best.
