The downfall really started with Iowa basketball on the cover of SI. The timing is pretty close anyway. Is anybody keeping those copies of Uthoff on SI?

I don't believe in the curse but it is uncanny that the issue came out Feb 8th and since then Iowa's lost 5 of 6 with their only win a 4 point nail biter at home against a then winless Minnesota team. By the way...the football team was on the cover when they went 11-0 and lost their last 2. Maybe I should believe in the curse:)

I think football was actually 11-0 when that came out, but I get what you are saying.

Not sure I'll keep my copy (that I discreetly borrowed from a waiting area and "forgot" to return). Thinking it may be time to return it.

I am sorry but as an athletic department how can you not tell them to go F themselves. I am sorry but Iowa should not of had them in there.

Since i have been alive the past 3 times Iowa has been on the cover their next couple of games they have gotten owned. Don't Do it!

Won in Lincoln.

The SI jinx works, pretty much every time.
It just takes a bit longer; Really, there's not a better explanation for the
past 4 games, having previously beaten Purdue twice and MSU twice.

Regression to the mean. SI puts the surprise stories/teams that over achieve on their regional covers. Basic common sense is that the majority of these teams will come back down to reality.
