Happened to watch some clips of Jordan last night. I'd forgotten how good Jordan became as an Iowa RB.

As I watched the clips it seemed that Ivory and Jordan may be very similar. Curious if the HR talent evaluators think this might be a good comparison of what to expect from IKM.

By the way, it's only 121 Days until kick off.

From what we have seen from Kelly-Martin so far, its a valid comparison IMO. I will be watching to see if IKM can match Canzeri's instincts and, hopefully, show a little more elusiveness and open field speed. It would be a big plus if IKM avoids the injury problems Canzeri faced.

Jordan's injury in the B1G Championship Game may have been the straw that ultimately broke our backs. The young man was a good running back.

Canzeri was good from Day 1. His first start was against Oklahoma in the Insight Bowl and he played the best of any Hawk that day.

I think Canzeri is the best comparable to IKM. If IKM reaches or exceeds Canzeri's talent then its icing on the cake. Let's hope he can keep a relatively clean bill of health as a Hawk and beyond.

My favorite Jordan C run. I was at this game and it was COLD. Same play as the shorter run. As soon as he got shoulder to shoulder with the LB I remember Screaming "hes gone". Husker fans were pissed. Great Hawk. Hopefully in a few years we are pulling up plays like this about IKM.

That was my all time favorite too. He was a darn good back and an even better young man.

Any idea what he's doing today?

I think Canzeri had a pretty unique running style.

Not sure I can think of any other Iowa RB that was a real close match to him.

It is kind of like both Fred Russell and Wadley were scatbacks, but still their styles were quite different. Fred was a poor man's Barry Sanders.

Whereas, Akrum rarely ran straight laterally or backwards. Very shifty, but quick moves, but way more of a North-South runner then Fred Russell was.

What the heck is “recallable reassignment?”

They're basically waived but the team still holds the rights to them. Looks like players assigned that distinction are usually brought back, according to what I can find.

Did Ferentz compare him to Ronnie Harmon at one of the earlier spring press conferences?
If so pretty amazing comparison coming from Ferentz. IMO IKM is the real deal. I think he’s gonna be a star. I have been following this kid ever since Iowa started recruiting him at his original HS. His HS film is fantastic. Excellent vision, speed, and strength. He has thick legs and so has excellent balance. He has a fluid and effortless gazelle like running style. Great kick returner as well.
I can kinda see the Canzeri comparison but I see more of a semblance of Sedrick Shaw in him. But what the hell do I know...

That play was so well-blocked. The fullback in particular just eats #5 from Nebraska's lunch, gets him turned around, Canzeri gets to the second-level, and is gone.

Can't wait to see more of these runs. IKM and I believe Young have the ability to hit the home run, as it were. IKM already has better physical size than Wadley and hopefully we'll see what kind of shake and bake he has this season. Really need him to be more durable than Canzeri too. Part of the issue for Canzeri was his stature.

That was a violent block and was the key to getting Jordan open space at the LOS. But I wonder what the Nebraska safety (#24) was thinking as he ran a terrible angle and then nudged the ref at the 40 yard line when he realized he was out of position and pivoted way too late to chase Canzeri. Unlikely that run is a TD if the Husker safety had executed properly.

Nebraska's defense has been inconsistent and occasionally horrible for quite a few years now. For all the talk about Frost's supposedly explosive offensive system, the Huskers really need to tighten up the defense instead. No real benefit of losing by 2 TDs instead of 4-5 TDs.

He doesn't have the track speed that both Banks and Canzeri had. Either does Toren who is more of a Bettis type of power back. Meaning he is kind of dancer more than true north south runner. I hope Cam H. develops cuz I think he's the only home run threat.

Interesting. I thought Ivory was a burner.

Just curious how Akrum’s speed compared to Jordan & Tavian.

And I really hate to ask this but is Eno faster than Ivory? ;) I really am curious. Hope this doesn’t open Pandora’s box.

Oh no you mentioned Eno. Get over it man. Move on with you life and stop obsessing about Eno! LOL. Prepare for several posters who clearly take the situation too seriously themselves to become incontinent and shyte all over you for even bringing him up.
I'm still so traumatized by Swarm17 decommits I can't bring myself to pay any attention to the program. I mean how do we still have a football program after all that.
IKM has more speed than people think.

I really don't see either Harmon or Wadley as comparisons to IKM, at least as far as what he has shown us thus far.

Too date, IKM has shown to be more of a one-cut, slasher type of back. But, he does have a real nice extra gear burst when going through the initial hole.

LOL, I'm way over Eno. But for whatever reason I was under the impression IKM is faster. Just thought someone might have factual info on this.

Plus, it's a long time until kickoff, why not stir the emotions of those destroyed by Eno?

IKM gets 1200 yards next year. . if healthy
Anything over half that exceeds my expectations. I don't anticipate a 1000 yard season for Kelly-Martin for two reasons:
(1) the interior OL is a WIP, replacing Daniels and Welsh will be a challenge, could take a few games to sort out and gel; and
(2) Toren Young will get at least as many carries and is a better work horse candidate, KF loves to feed work horse RBs.

I can envision Kelly-Martin having a couple big games, say 150 or so yards rushing.. Main thing is to stay healthy, hold on to the football, and continue to improve, deliver a big play when the opportunity is there.

I agree. If I wasn't so lazy I'd see what the AY & Damian Sims numbers were, but I'd guess Damian was in that 600 or less range. And I see TY & IKM with similar roles.

IKM is better than Sims by far. He's gonna get chunks and hit a few home runs.

Not disagreeing at all. I was most curious about the % of total carries that were attributed to each. Then just assumed yardage would be moderately similar. An acid test of sorts.

I get it, but I think IKM is a better back than Toren Young, a lot better.

Man that safety was zeroed in on the fullback. Then a small screen by the ref made his angle look like crap
