Ivory Kelly-Martin vs. Jordan Canzeri

Canzeri had uncanny balance and defenders usually seemed to have trouble getting a "clear shot" on him. Despite not taking a lot of direct shots in games, he was oft injured. I remember that Ferentz was originally concerned about Canzeri's size too ... but he loved his high school film too much. Once Jordan was healthy enough to see extended reps ... we finally saw what he could do in 2015. BTW one of the best features of Canzeri was his leadership. Given all the injuries on the OL and at RB in '15 ... the guys could have packed it in or busted played for themselves. But Canzeri was the "big brother" of the RB group ... and he helped everybody there be prepped like they were a starter .... and each guy who got called upon produced like a champ!

As for Ivory ... he's something new for the Hawks. On first pass, when watching his film ... I'm hard pressed to think of an RB who he reminds me of. He has more than adequate speed to be a home-run threat ... although he's not necessarily a burner. He has great explosiveness - but one of his more notable features is that he doesn't need a lot of space to be able to "squirt" through a hole. He clearly has above average speed ... and, at least in his high school tape, he seems like he can be a threat in the passing game too. Since he's young ... his head might still be spinning a little bit concerning "thinking" about his responsibilities ... and consequently his consistency in practice might have suffered. However, in the long term, I see him being exceedingly dangerous for the Hawks!

Ivory jelly Martin.. reminds me of Albert young.. a good solid back.. young had a lot of promise, wasn’t a burner wasn’t a bruiser just a good back

IKM = poor mans Curtis Martin when Martin was at Pitt. I'm NOT saying that he is Curtis Martin but they have a very similar skill set. Martin was as good as any back I've ever seen of pressing the hole and "getting small". If IKM can stay healthy, work hard and learn to play fast, IMO, he could be special.

I do know that the staff is really excited about both IKM and Young.

We only got to see Albert after 2 (maybe 3) knee surgeries. That takes a bit of toll on the confidence that a guy has in his own body. That's arguably a big reason why we never got to see Albert with the same speed that he had in high school.

However, all the same, Albert had awesome vision and he was absolutely terrific as a contributor in the passing game. Before Wadley came around ... Albert would have arguably been our next best RB (to Ronnie Harmon) as it related to contributions in the passing game. The guy was a natural. No offense to Albert ... but Wadley has taken over that crown in my eyes (although he couldn't touch Harmon's mark - the "gold" standard).

Anyhow, Albert was a more patient runner than Ivory. Maybe it's attributable to his youth ... but Ivory seems to have better "burst."

I understand where the Albert Young comparison is coming from ... I was dancing around with the idea in my head for a while ... but overall their styles are still different enough for me to put them in the same category.

Also, I could see comparisons of Toren Young to Ladell Betts ... although Toren also looks to punish defenders, a little bit like Shonn Greene.

This is about as good of a comparison as I think I have seen thus far.

I think the best compairsons in style are Toren with Greene and IKM with Canzeri.

A Greene-Canzeri backfield would have been quite nasty.
