Clearly, IOWA has the better point guard. Heck, he was playing on
Trimble's home court.

LOL...........All I heard, since end of last year, is 'you mean M Trimble didn't go to the
NBA?'

GO HAWKS :)

Trimble just kept throwing up brick after brick all game, once his shot wasn't going down a good player should look to create shots for others or at least try to drive and get an easy bucket or free throws. I've seen Bohannon do that on several occasions

Trimble, was supposedly going to be in the NBA, this year. ??
Jordan Bohannon wasn't even on many 'hoop gurus' radar, even
on HawkeyeReport, you had Hawkeye, 'ahem fans' questioning his
recruitment. Those 'fans' are hiding under their desks, now

Jordan Bohannon and yours truly, have the LAST laugh. (I was very optimistic that
JBo could be the player your seeing now)
LOL

I had to watch the Bohannon brothers blister our high school teams for years......and then they first three go to play elsewhere. Good to finally be able to root for one as a Hawkeye. I always heard that Jordan was supposed to be the best Bohannon brother. I like his start at Iowa!

In fairness to Trimble, he had been playing quite well up until the last 2/3 games. It appears he is in a slump at this point.

Let's hope Wisconsin continues in their tailspin as well Thursday. Koenig has struggled since recent leg injury, keep Hayes from driving and he is shooting bricks, and Happ seems to have lost a step/energy. But, of course we know what happens to Iowa after shooting lights out in the last game, clank, clank, etc. Hope not!!

If he's been in a slump he should defer to his teammates rather than jacking threes 10 seconds into the shot clock

If anyone ever wonders why DanL doesn't post as often as he used to, it is for two reasons.

1) My hands get sore pretty fast these days. Takes really having something to say to deal with it.

2) Why post when someone else says the kind of things you would say? Now all we gotta do is get Rudolph to use these Passive/Aggressive :) things and I think I could retire entirely.

As to Trimble. If he had been hitting those shots we'd have been kicking ourselves. And there is an old expression that the way to break a slump is to keep shooting. Melo has the green light. Is he the next coming of Rick Mount? NO. I've always thought that Turgeon and McCaffery are very similar coaches. They both run the same flat four with the point guard up top when looking for a last second shot. Other stuff. By the way, I never thought I'd miss Dr. Tom's late clock set of two guys setting a pick at the corners of the paint and letting the point guard decide which one to use on his way to the bucket. But I do miss it. I don't like this Flat Four thing. But then with two highly paid coaches using it and me sitting here dumb enough to wonder about it...I know I'm just doing the couch coach complaint dance. That's my job of course.

Iowa had a great game plan and in my opinion Maryland took what we gave them. This time, our plan worked. Next time, it might not.

As to Bohannon. Well let's just say as to White, as to Olaseni, as to Baer, as to a lot of guys that McCaffery finds, if Fran wants 'em I want 'em.

Anyway, thanks for posting stuff Rudolph. Good comments and I like the little jabs now and then. :) o_O :D   :p

Don't forget that for Tremble's 4 assists, he had 3 TO's. For Jordan's 5 assists, he had only 2 TO's. And, I don't mean "time-outs". That TO raio is a huge state for this player comparison....IMHO.

I've always thought he was overrated. Not a bad player, but overrated.

I like this point. I think he is more a Robin than a Batman and his results have been from being called upon to be the main guy.

Melo excels in the pick and roll, but Iowa effectively took that away with its zone (kudos to Fran). It hurt the turtles and Melo's stats that their best big at the pick and roll didn't play. As noted, Melo has been in a slump since he almost single handedly beat the Mildcats. Trimble is a very good player, and I hope that JBo has as good a career.

Which big are you refering to?

I hunted around for UM message board fans' reactions after the game, and their main complaint is that effectively is Maryland's offense this year (and most years evidently). The shots have to be falling for it to work cause they don't exactly run a lot of effective sets under Turgeon to get inside a lot.

They've lost a lot of good talent recently, and are more of a donut team this year. If the inside doesn't provide a match-up they can take advantage of early, they hoist up 3's - but this year they don't have the shooters they've had in the past.

Trimble I wouldn't exactly state is a good shooter. I don't believe he has a viable NBA future until he starts proving he can hit the 3 consistently. He might latch on as a bench guy and might play a few years...hard to say. He didn't come out early cause the info he was probably told not to by scouts and work on the shot.

Good college guard though...I'd take him on Iowa this minute.
