The B1G Conference looks about as mediocre as I can ever remember. Lots of decent teams, including Iowa, but there aren't any really great ones.
UCLA and Oregon knock Iowa down a few spots in the standings.

I agree that the Big Ten is not a good basketball league as a whole.

A coach's record is a coach's record. You start "throwing out" entire seasons, it becomes just a big cope.

Most coaches take over a sh*t show. That's just the nature of the business.
Most coaches do not have to take over “shit shows” like Iowa was with Lick. Of the current B1G coaches the only one that took over a similar “shit show” would be Steve Pikiell at Rutgers. He’s done a tremendous job turning that program around making 2 NCAA tournaments (0 sweet 16). Even struggling programs like Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Northwestern were coming off much better 3 year stretches than Lick’s Iowa teams.

3d best conference (will probably end up 2d) out of 30....

Yeah....not a good basketball league.

lol

Too many dummies here.

Off the top of my head...Underwood took over an Illinois program that had just had the worst 10 year stretch in the history of the program. He lost the most games in a season in Illinois program history in his first year. How's he doing? May took over the very definition of a shit show at Michigan. How's he doing? You think Illinois and Michigan fans will be arguing to throw out their coaches' first and second season records? Me either. Because that's a ridiculous, poverty program type argument.

Most coaches are hired because the previous coach was fired. Only on this board would something like this even be argued. lol

Way too many dummies here.

ACC, SEC, Big 12 and Big East are all better than the Big Ten. The tournament will bear that out.
That's just not true by any metric at this time.

Your tavern hawk end of season prediction means jack squat for obvious reasons.

Yes, Juwan Howard had a “shit show” in his final season but the 4 years prior he had gone 46-31 in conference. HE was a shit show not the Michigan program. Iowa fans would kill to have those previous 5 years of shit show at Michigan (2 sweet 16s and an elite 8). John Gross final season at Illinois he won 20 games and 8-10 in conference. 10 year average wins prior to Underwood Illinois averaged 19.5 wins. Underwood has averaged 20.5. Try again.

lol. The last 2 seasons of Alford, Iowa averaged 21 wins and had a #3 seed in the NCAA tourney. Lickliter was at Iowa for 3 seasons, averaged 13 wins a year and, unlike Howard, never finished in last place a single time.

When Underwood took over Illinois, they had missed the tourney 6 straight years. A much longer period of irrelevance than Iowa.

The simple fact is that Lickliter didn't "destroy" the Iowa program with an 8th, 9th, and 10th place finish. He simply wasn't bad enough or here long enough to do that. That myth is a cope for a decade and a half of mostly mediocrity under Fran.

Try again, indeed.

Lickliter had the worst three year stretch of Iowa Basketball going back to 1929-1932 when Iowa was expelled from the Big Ten. The ten seasons prior to Underwood was not the worst ten year stretch in Illinois’ history. Not sure where you gathered that from. It’s not even the worst ten year stretch for them in the last 50 years.

In the six seasons prior to Underwood, Illinois went 114-91 (.556). The six seasons prior to Fran, Iowa went 101-93 (.521). I’m sure a smart guy like you can figure out which winning percentage is better. Illinois went to one tournament, winning one game. Iowa went to two tournaments and went 0-2.

Not only did Illinois go to the NCAA Tournament in the six seasons prior to Underwood (2013), they actually won their first round game. Iowa’s last NCAA Tournament win prior to Fran was of course, 2001 (10 years before Fran). Illinois had been to a National Championship game since then.

Lunardi is a tool.

BIG will get 9 -- 10 at most -- in. We are better than Nebraska, Northwestern, and probably Wisconsin.

It's going to be close but I can't say we'll make it in with any conviction at this point.

Not if the conference was poor the past few years, which it has been as a whole.
What does this have to do with you contradicting yourself about multiple different topics?

Bickering with you while you argue with yourself is a lost cause.

Go Hawks I guess?

full text of tweet:

Taking a look at Iowa's next 3 games (Per Torvik)

3-0 - 1st Team Out of NCAA Tournament

2-1 - (L to Nebby) 3rd Team Out
2-1 - (L to Indiana) 7th Team Out
2-1 - (L to USC) 6th Team Out

1-2 - Any Combo: 10th-16th Team Out (not bubble)

On its own, a win tonight moves Iowa to the 3rd team out
(including future projections so still need to pick up an “unexpected” result depending on the thousands of other games of course).

I bet this is super accurate at the end of the year
Where's his bracket for 2025-26? What's he waiting for? I wanna know the future, and I wanna know it NOW. LOL

All these projections are more evidence of the stupidity social media have brought. The only bracket that matters is the real one at the end of the season. Anybody who halfway follows college basketball can guess what that bracket will be every day, and if that makes you happy, go for it. But it just doesn't matter. It doesn't mean anything.

OK, Mr. All Facts No Fun. Jeez.

I'll bet you don't even believe in Bigfoot.
