Jan Jensen names her Starting 5

Taylor actually shot much better from 3's than what Clark did. She is a very good spot up shooter.
Not sure if this means anything since both shot 3's in different context. McCabe shot mostly open 3's while CC shoot mostly contested 3's. The real question is will McCabe's 3 point percent be as good this year if she is not shooting as many open 3's as last year?

Love that chart, DanHawk. Her Middy game is on point, but we'll need others to pick up the 3 point slack

Don’t have a link but McCabe said she beats Caitlin from the 3 point line but Caitlin wins from the longer distances.

And Caitlin's average 3 was probably 4 feet beyond the arc whereas Taylor hugs the 3 pt line. Easier to close on her if it looks like she's going to shoot. Ŵe need more threats from 3 to help space things out.

As much as I love Iowa WBB season once games start, the "Wait Until Next Year" period up until the first exhibition game has a special kind of anticipatory excitement. We are so excited to see what the freshman will add to the returners. Sometimes in my excitement about new faces, I assume that a freshman will replace an experienced starter, but in the last seven seasons, only Clark has started more than three games as a freshman. I assume that Heiden will be the next to start a majority of the games in her first year and (because only two players remain who started any games last year) may be joined by one of her classmates by season's end.

Last April, I shared a chart of the Iowa WBB starters going back to 2011-12. There were 11 freshman starters over the last 13 seasons. On the original thread, @citizenHawk pointed out that context matters, which is to say, who did/didn't return should be noted as well as the injury situation. You can get some indication by looking at the complete chart.

I think this list may be an easier representation of freshman starters, so I include it along with the original table.
2023-24 (39 games)
2022-23 (38 games)
2021-22 (32 games)
2020-21 (30 games) Clark 30 *
2019-20 (30 games) Marshall 1, Warnock 3
2018-19 (36 games)
2017-18 (32 games)
2016-17 (34 games) Doyle 29 * exhib, Meyer 23 * regular
2015-16 (33 games) Davis, Tania 16, Gustafson 14
2014-15 (34 games) Jennings 31 *
2013-14 (36 games) Disterhoft 17 *
2012-13 (34 games)
2011-12 (31 games) Logic 31 *, Dixon 8

* asterisk indicates started first game of season unless otherwise noted
I edited the chart below to account for Sevillian's redshirt year. I chose to not call her a freshman starter since she had been in the program for a year. Thanks to @UpstreamHawkeye for catching the initial error.

Don't know if I'm reading this right, but Kylie Feuerbach got 2 starts in '21-'22 season as well.

Also, where are you getting Sevillian on the '21-'22 team? Sevillan isn't listed on any linked roster for that season that I have posted here. I see she is listed on the 6th year column. Maybe I'm seeing an old version yet or just misunderstanding it.

Another '21-'22 roster without Sevillian listed of pictured at the bottom of the page.

Way Too Early Look: Women’s Hoops 2021-22
"With this being a Covid year (players don’t lose a year of eligibility), it’s not certain which players across the country will move on, but it appears that the Hawkeyes will only lose Alexis Sevillian and Zion Sanders."

Maybe you have a better resource that list Sevillian for the '21-'22 season.

Yeah, that document had errors, particularly with Sevillian. Here’s my current spreadsheet of historical starters, players, states they came from, and someone else’s link to scholarships. It still probably has errors and omissions.
Yes, I believe there is at least one error yet. I believe Kylie Feuerbach got 2 starts in '21-'22 season as well in her Sophomore year like Clark. See the link provided.
