+1. Looked great in an Iowa singlet. Would love to see him take on Gomez in folkstyle. Have they wrestled each other in folk before?

Agree. Having the event in freestyle was a real disadvantage for him. Am very excited to see him wrestling for Iowa and it was great to see him in a more traditional Iowa singlet. It was sad to see him lose. He is a favorite of mine already, and I still have to wait years to see him officially wrestle for Iowa.

Agree love this kid.
Noticed in his interview he is thinking of wrestling 133 in college which is great as then Justin R can be at 125.

Also like what I saw of the 2 other recurits espically "The Bull" that dude will or can be another Metcalf only up a few weights.

Gomez is a stud for sure, took out both Hawk recruits in less then 2 months. I like what I see from him. Going to be a nice catch for someone.

Heard Iowa was in the running at one time with Illinois in the lead.

Justin has never wrestled gomez before and justin hasn't wrestled freestyle since he was 9 but was a great match against a world team member I think if it was folk style match it would have been totally different justin would have rode him out and maybe turned him but I have to say thank u to all the fans for taking time out and shaking his hand and telling him that they can't wait to see him be a Halkeye thank u Iowa fans

Thanks for the info, Mr. Mejia. Wish I'd had the chance to shake Justin's hand and welcome him to the Hawkeye family. I'll be sure to do that once we get him in Iowa City. He's going to be fun to watch, and I have no doubt he'll love competing at Carver!

Justin said he felt like he was home he told me before we arrived that Iowa has the best fans and after last night I truly a believer I really appreciate all the fans cheering for my son I was impressed for all the fans to know a kid from CA wow!!

Music to my ears. He's going to love being a Hawk.

Justin is a great on top and freestyle takes that away. Iowa needs guys who can ride and turn...sure looking forward to him getting here.

Thats awesome! He looked pretty darn good from his feet too...great combination!

Id take Justin everyday of the week to become a Hawkeye! Met his Dad at the hotel and the family couldn't have been nicer. I'm glad we get to see his son in the black and gold for years to come. Eye ball test and Justin will be an absolute beast. Brands has to be behind impressed with the talent coming in.

Congrats to Justin on a great job. With little FS experience, he took an early lead against the Fargo FS champ. Reasonably close and tried a big move at the end, making the score more lopsided than the match was.

Kid looked great in black. Look forward to seeing him in Carver in a few years!

I am glad jay had a great time. im sure he realizes how much we are pulling for him. keep doing what you are doing young man, we are proud to have you in the family.

Plus, Justin said in an interview he didn't even scout Gomez, was just going to see what his own style yields.

That will all change when he comes to Iowa. He's obviously a talented wrestler.
