JB on PSU fans disrespect.

I’m just glad JB found a new brand of socks that didn’t require attention at every whistle before returning to center. I know when Iowa guys are wrestling in CHA and the opponent is stalling and not returning to center against high-octane wrestlers like DeSanto that make their living on pace, the fans politely clap.

There is a Hispanic racial slur that rhymes with d***. That’s what he was going around telling people he was called. An investigation into it said otherwise.
Well, if you follow the investigation, that fan is now banned from CHA. So, whatever word he used, it was not tamed or innocent.

Didn’t hear about this. Was JB hostile/complaining when approaching Cael or was he attempting to shake hands? Or what was your read on JB approaching the coaching staff?
To me it looked as if JB could not win and just leave it at that and let it be. He had to approach the coaching staff imo to explain that MM was in the wrong to his own coaches which it turn made the place go nuts. Top that off with the actions of Manning digging at the crowd . I just don't believe the crowd would have reacted the way they did if JB and more so Manning would have acted like, hey I won nbd and went along with business. They created their own drama and after that it was no holds bar

MM was in the wrong. Acted like a punk the whole match.

I was there and IMO Burroughs is 100 percent right in his feelings towards the PSU fans. Manning was right for sticking up for Burroughs as well. The crowd was very bush league towards Burroughs. I would expect Brands would have their wrestler's back 100 percent as well.

FWIW, if Jordan Burroughs and David Taylor competed in Paris, I think the USA wrestling Olympic Gold medal streak may still be going.
Meh. Neither looked great in their losses at OTTs. But matchups matter. I think making the weight took some of their power. Looked much better up a weight.

Punk? Jb deserves not to wrestle a punk?. Pretty international competition will try every tactic in the book and then some
That's one of the reasons I find it so humorous people talk about JB stalling because he takes 2-3 seconds to pull up his socks. Obviously they haven't watched many international matches. Lol

After reading this post and many like it I can sit back and smile knowing EXACTLY WHY I AM A HAWKEYE fan instead of the place down the road . To treat JB this way is just plain disgusting and forget Manning's actions JB was greeted by a huge chorus of Boos. I have seen the fans get nasty with various teams and opponents many times over. The ONLY thing some of these PSU fans have going positive for them is.... They aren't Philadelphia Eagles fans .
Touché' WRT the Eagles comment! LMAO!!

WRT the fan bases, ours is clearly more educated in wrestling - and that's not tooting our own horns - it's mentioned time and time again by whichever announcers call a Hawks' wrestling dual even when PSU and their fan base come to town. But I think that's only because we have significantly more history of watching and winning. I don't think, aside from the wresting-education part, our fan bases are all that different. And if we were all neighbors living in Colorado we'd all get along just fine, with the exception of a couple jackasses that every fan base has. In the end it's all about winning and supporting our programs. In this case the PSU faithful are defending their fan base and I'm sure all of us Hawks' fans would be defending ours if it was JB against Hawks' wrestlers in CHA.

FWIW, I really like JB and wanted him to pull it off one last time at the OTT just like I wanted DT to beat Brooks. Shit happens; torches are passed; some temporarily, some permanently; and life goes on. Now I'm ready to watch our Hawks close the gap this season!! And going forward, I want the best recruits and I want the best portal guys and I want the best we can pull using NIL. And I don't care about being in the grey. We need to be doing it as good if not better than the guys in Happy Valley. Time for excuses are over. Also, there's a disturbance in The Force with DT at Okie State, so now we have to watch our left and right flanks. We showed we can make some shit happen this offseason; now we need to replicate that effort in some form or fashion every year.

Imagine if one of the fans threw a beer bottle at him.
According to you ped fans the blame should be on your coach and wrestler acting like idiots. They shouldn't have cried to the ref and instead acted like a gracious winner rather than creating a scene and earning a beer shower.

And if we were all neighbors living in Colorado we'd all get along just fine, with the exception of a couple jackasses that every fan base has.

I have met plenty of Hawk fans in person. You can't help it. They're everywhere. But I've never met one in person that wasn't a gracious and even humble fan. I will tell you this much as well. I have been embarrassed by a few PSU fans in public. I'm sure that Hawk fans can say the same about a select few of their own fan base.
That said, a decent number of PSU fans are very arrogant right now. They are newer to the game and haven't experienced what we will eventually go through. Hopefully well into the future! ;) If Penn State fans can't admit this, then they aren't being objective.
That said, I hated Iowa Wrestling when Gable was there just like most wrestlers/fans from other teams. They dominated the fans in the arenas. They were loud. And they influenced the officials with the pressure they applied in step with their wrestlers. Opposing wrestlers sincerely felt like they were down 1-0 before the whistle blew.
The bottom line is that wrestling fans are some of the best fans of any sport there is. We know how hard it is to compete at this level and we appreciate the show they put on.
Now to be more specific on the JB thing. MM had his strategy. That was to play the pace game and try to get under JB's skin. JB's strategy was to slow things down, like the old bull walking down into valley and...well you know the joke. The fans were booing JB's tactic. Fair enough. MM was a little punky wrestling through the whistle on the GOAT. He was trying to get him off his game. It didn't work. I booed while JB was playing with his socks. It was deserved. BUT, when the match was over that should have been it. Manning clowned it up in a way that wasn't necessary and that inspired more booing. That probably would have been the end of it but he wrestled another PSU favorite next. So JB got booed again. Manning clowned it up again (but that's Manning). That turned JB into the heel in the homer crowd's opinion and he got booed again against Dake. PSU A-hole fan put the icing on the cake as Burroughs was leaving the arena. Booing the sock pulling was appropriate. When the match was over, that should have been over. But it wasn't and it's a bad look for PSU fans. Many PSU fans disagree with me, but I don't think baggage should be carried over into another match unless something egregious was done, and JB didn't do any more than play the international wrestling game he's been on the other side of dozens of times. So we have to own it. The booing was excessive and the A-Hole fan is a jerk on par with the Hawkeye Football fan that became the "broken wing meme". But to say that a highly decorated wrestler wouldn't get booed in Carver (during one match) under similar conditions is being a little disingenuous. Maybe someday we'll see. You never know.

Pretty well said, if I went there ( decided on going to the big Tens instead), I'd probably see it the same way. I honestly don't enjoy free style so I would only get so excited over any goings on. The first time I saw one of those gator rolls I just rolled my eyes and turned the channel. I just prefer folk style as blasphemous as that sounds. And the Olympics? I haven't watched them in decades, close to 30 years.

What percentage were actually booing Manning rather than JB after the march was over?

Impossible to quantify but I would lean JB overall. After the match most of the booing was localized and I was on the other side of the arena. So that could have been Manning, but I can't say for sure. After the match was over the booing was not arena-wide. It was following Burroughs/Manning.

I was down low on the Manning side. And I can say without doubt Manning created a spectacle and no one was yelling or booing at JB. Manning enticed the crowd with his idiot reaction. I truly believe if Manning was not the idiot he was after MM match and JB would not have attempted to approach Cael while still in the arena the Nolf match would have been silent and respectful.

I posted this after JB was in State College. I do NOT condone any of the actions from PSU fans that day. I expect better.
But JB needs to consider the following before he mentions it in interview.

"He is a legend but let’s put it to rest.

He talked Sh.t on PSU on multiple occasions.
He talked sh.t on Marstellar who is a PA hs legend and finished his collegiate career not 15 miles from BJC
He stated going after CS knee on national tv ( better left unsaid- unwritten rules)
His coach makes accusations regularly

If you think the red carpet was going to be rolled out with a party sendoff...........

I do not like some things that come out of CS mouth. I wish the fans at the trials would have been better, but...
Pa and psu has a rabid wrestling fanbase(for better and worse) and if either believes you did them wrong and you come into their house expecting flowers......good luck.

Go to a bitter rival hs dual in PA.
What you see and hear there will make what JB heard pale in comparison. "

This is almost funny. I'm wondering if any of you guys were ever alive in the 60s or 70s maybe into the 80s? Opposing fans often said some pretty bad things to players that involved every slur in the book, every insult to your mother, etc., etc.

I think things started to get pretty rough in NY, Boston , and Philly . I blame them.
