JBO hurt

Irrelevant. At 100% that team stood no chance against Oregon.
Bohannon looked like a HS kid out there and looks no different healthy.
Jesus get a grip. People get hot for a game. Do you really think Iowa was 30pts better than msu.
Oregon is not Larry Johnson and unlv.

When Iowa played Illinois in November, Luka got in foul trouble, forcing Iowa to put Nunge out there on Cockburn. While Nunge didn’t shoot well, he had 4 blocks and Kofi went 2-7 and finished the game with 9 points.

Fast-forward to the B1G tourney and Cockburn scored 26 points with no Nunge out there. It was pretty clear watching the January game that Nunge kept Kofi off-balance. Not exactly a not athletic nor strong enough to guard quicker or bigger guys.....and he didn’t get knocked around much underneath.
I will say this about Jack Nunge, for a kid his size, he put in plenty of effort in the paint against the bangers when he had to. He's a good basketball player. If he can stay healthy he'll do just fine.

lol

It wasn’t really about “getting hot.” Hot had little to do with it. It was about position by position matchups. Did you even watch the game? Once they were settled in, Oregon did whatever they wanted to do against Iowa. No exaggeration — Whatever they wanted whenever they wanted it.

If they wanted an open three in rhythm, they got an open three in rhythm. If they wanted to drive and dunk, they drove and dunked. If they wanted to run wild in transition, they did that.

Iowa was unable to stop anything. Literally anything. I haven’t seen an Iowa team that clearly outmatched since Villanova embarrassed them.

Oregon wins 10 out of 10 times. Some games would be closer than others but don’t kid yourself, there were a handful of matchups in the tourney that we definitely wanted no part of and this was one of them.

I won’t go in to the “how many out of 10” portions but Oregon shot ridiculously well against us. It happens. We’ve done it too. It’s basketball and some nights you’re making a lot others you can’t throw it in the ocean. I’m VERY comfortable saying they do NOT shoot like that in the “other 9 games”. They did it when it mattered and you can argue matchups/defense/etc but the point is they don’t shoot that well on a regular basis.

Yeah bullshit again.

Ridiculous statement to create a straw man argument. You must be delusional if you think ANYONE on this site has compared Nunge to Olajuwan. Please provide at least one link.
Nobody has, I was referring to several different posts (threads) about Jack as a rim protector. Being 6'10+ doesn't make you an inside force or automatic shot blocker. I just kept reading people mention that. I didn't see that watching his game. We still need a big in other words is all I'm saying. I like JN game, but more from a 6th man spot. I think he can score many different ways when Healthy!

That's too bad about Jordan's shoulder injury...if the NCAA was having the 3-point and dunk contests this year, I was hoping Bohannan would enter the 3-point contest to match Jok's winning it a couple of years ago. I guess not now.

I'm believe Austin was having fun with the reporter and not really bashing Bohannan. Although, Ash did sink some amazingly long 3's during his mop-up playing time.

From the Gazette article, ......."Maybe it seems a little funny, that walk-on with 11 career 3-pointers telling reporters he’d bet on himself to win a 3-point-shooting contest against the teammate who is Iowa’s all-time leader in that category with 344.

Here’s what’s really fun, though: On those every-so-often occasions when Austin Ash has made 3-pointers near the end of Hawkeyes wins, you see pure delight from his teammates on the sideline".........

Iowa men's basketball players, including guard Jordan Bohannon (towel on head), prepares to celebrate a 3-pointer by tea

I don't know about 10 of 10 but definitely 8 or 9 out of 10, at least if Iowa insisted on playing at a high pace. They did do whatever they wanted to do for the vast majority of the game. Iowa gave up 9 uncontested dunks in the game, which should not happen in a college game. Complete breakdown.

Nope

If we had a reset I'm guessing we would pound it down low even more and force the fouls issue on them. Nunge would have been invaluable in defense because he has fouls to give that garza didn't

Oregon beat us but people disparaging our Hawkeyes as if they ran into the Bulls is bullshit

Because no other team is dealing with any sort of injuries. Excuses are for wusses.
I didn't hear the team making excuses, but to think that injuries didn't severely limit Iowa the last month or two of the season is silly. You're right that injuries are part of sports, but some years they make a huge difference. It is actually pretty damn impressive that Iowa won most of its B1G games down the stretch, and the coaches and players deserve some recognition for toughing it out.

Yeah, I didn't make the Army Special Forces because I was hiding injuries.

Classic way to end the season: "I was hurt the whole time."

Very low bball in post.

The Big needs to end their tourney a week before selection sunday and give teams a little breather and time to rest up after a physical season of BB before the NCAA

People are missing something crucial here. A healthy Nunge allows Garza to be much more physical and challenge shots with Nunge on the bench. With JN out, Garza can play aggressive defense due to concerns about fouls. Garza’s defense made it clear that this was an issue. If you watch how he defended this year after JN went down.
