According to Trackwrestling, Iowa is sending about a dozen wrestlers to the Joe Parisi Open this weekend. Could be some good competition based on the schools listed.

Gulp......Flo listed it under their what to watch for this weekend. Also at 149 is Morse from Northern Illinois and 141 is loaded. Leeth from Missouri, Matt Manley, Eli Stickley from Wisconsin, Bleise from N Illinois, Leroy Barnes and Will Roark from Missouri.

With the way he's (Kem) been wrestling, I'm inclined to agree with you. If he does beat him, it'll merit putting some things in perspective. Last year Mayes majored Josh Dziewa. If Kem can beat Mayes as a true freshman, the sky is truly the limit for the young Hawk. I'm hoping Turk can right the ship and have himself a great tourney.

Think there was a breakdown of wrestlers on flo and it listed Iowa guys in the Fresh/Soph division.

Ok...I get them doing that in their first Open but they need to let Kemdawg run with it to at least let us message boards dudes sleep at night. Give us the "holy shit, he could start moment" or the "Ok, he needs a little more work."

That's what the midlands R 4.

The way FLO lists it, it looks like many of our young guns will be in the "Fresh/Soph" division. Is that accurate?

The only guy from Iowa that isn't listed in the Fresh/Soph division by FLO is Jeremiah Moody at 165. Maybe its a simple mishap and Moody is in the Fresh/Soph and everyone else is in the open! :D:D

I think Midlands is a fresh/soph Div, the Open is at the Southern Scuffle!:)

If Kemerer wins this tournament, you without question have to STRONGLY consider the move to 141 The question is where did Kemerer certify at ? Because if he certified at 149 it's a moot point.

With how's he's been wrestling, I think he will beat him. Certainly don't think it'll be bonus points, but a win nonetheless. Go Hawks!

Is Mayes wrestling in the frosh division? Cuz it sounds like our guy is.

Wrong. He can wrestle up a weight or down from 49 if need be.

If he didn't certify to begin the season at 141, he can't go there. That's the question, where did he certify at ?

Open Division-Joe Parisi
125-Perez Perez
133-None
141-Topher Carton
149-None, which sucks because I don't see anyone between Kemerer and Mayes in final
157-Logan McQuillan, Logan Thomsen (also 1st round matchup between Dayton Racer and #11 Joseph LaVallee)
165-None
174-Mitch Bowman
184-None
197-None
285-None

I'm confused about 141. Ryan has supposedly been wrestling because other Hawks are hurt, yet those other Hawks are wrestling tournaments the past 2 weekends. Either a) they're not hurt, or b) they're healthy enough to wrestle a tournament but not a dual? Doesn't make sense to me.

Also, I'm with many on here who would like to see our young Hawks get better competition in the Open division.

If guys are hurt they miss practice time. If they miss practice time and aren't returning All Americans or named Brooks, Meyer, Stoll you go to opens first. You're welcome.

While I would love to see all of our guys in the open division, there is probably something to be said about true freshman getting wins under their belt. The year is long and these guys are no doubt getting their share of butt kickings in the room on a regular basis. If Brands feels this is the best thing for them at this point he has a reason. Also the better true freshman will have their chance at Midlands to shine.

Who are these other Hawks you speak of? The only competition he's currently had is Topher Carton who didn't wrestle last weekend. Turk is currently redshirting but he's also coming off injury. Most were surprised to see him compete as he's missed practice time. But again, he's redshirting and Carton didn't wrestle due to injury.

These other Hawks are the ones you mentioned. They were supposedly not available for the duals due to injury, yet they are wrestling tournaments.
