John Beilein out at Cleveland

Makes you wonder if Indiana, Wisconsin or Iowa St would consider a coaching change if they believed they could lure Beilein? All three programs have fanbases with some serious doubts about their current coach. All three programs would be a perfect fit for a guy like Beilein.

Ive heard talk of Indiana or Texas....I'm hoping Minnesota doesn't get involved. He would do very well for their program

you mean like 99% of major corporations? ;)

But other industries have regulations that prevent monopolies from forming. The NBA is a legally protected monopoly so the league and its owners can get away with a level of exploitation that other corporations can't (and shouldn't). It is what it is, but I'm just trying to counteract the false narratives of the NBA and the sports media propaganda. The kids deserve better advocates than they get. They're in great positions in college--full ride scholarships? That gives them a huge leg up if they take advantage of it.

Bakari Evelyn is gonna come out of college smelling like a rose--he'll have an undergrad degree from Valpo and a grad degree from Iowa with no debt. He won't be playing pro basketball, but he'll be in great position to pursue his non-sports career goals. Think about it--Tyler Cook is in a worse position than Evelyn (by far) because he didn't even get his degree before leaving and he's being cut and resigned left and right in just a few months this year, not making much money and no employment stability for his future. All because he was convinced somehow that he could make the NBA or wind up making big bucks in Europe. Not gonna happen for him.

Is it Tyler's own fault? To a degree, but how many times was he told during his teenage years that he could make the NBA if he just worked hard (or whatever)? He was given bad advice and whatever good advice he got was washed away by the overwhelming deluge of propaganda (personal and public) that led to him developing the beliefs he had. It is what it is, the world is what it is. But I don't see a reason why my offering of a counter-narrative is bad on any level.

Telling guys to stay in school to get a degree no matter what, guys like Weiskamp who will never play in the NBA and will not get rich playing basketball, is basically a moral imperative. He'll do better in life if he has a backup plan. One more year in college is not going to make one bit of difference one way or the other in terms of whether or not he gets drafted. If anything, he'll have a better opportunity if he can do something like Garza did and improve radically in one year. No one was talking about Garza as a potential NBA player before this year, but he put in the work and now it's a legit discussion whether he could make it. Garza's still better off staying one more year and better developing himself academically as well as athletically and in terms of his skill development. You don't get better bouncing from league to league or team to team every week as a marginal pro basketball player compared to the stability of a college hoops environment.

No way TX does it. He's too old and not a long term fix.

Well we do have a president in his early 70's and it's highly likely the Democrat nominee will be in his late 70's. Maybe 67 is the new 57. If people think an 80 year old dude can lead an entire country why not a 67 year old dude lead a basketball team into his 70's?
