I didn't think John Fetterman would be a good Senator given his physical issues. His first couple of years were a bit rocky because of those physical issues, and learning how the Senate works. It turns out I was wrong about Fetterman. He's actually become the voice of reason for his party. He's comfortable in his own skin, and has the courage to speak out when the Dem leadership is unreasonable. I will never agree with him on many issues, just as I will never agree with most GOP Senators on many issues. That said, Fetterman understands the need to look at issues based on their own individual merit, and figuring out the will of the people. He's grown on me a lot, and I appreciate what he's trying to do in representing the Commonwealth.

I'm not saying he would be bad but he needs a major image make over if he is going to win over enough of the electorate.
Make no mistake I think he is at his ceiling. You don't get to have an anxiety attack for months at a time as the president of the united states, but, he is filling into his current role.better than expected.

Good post!

Many in the country feel their elected officials are imposing their will on the people rather than listening to the will of the people.

Hell, as an example, many on this board would rather have their will than THE will.

I also thought he was a big time loser as well, and I was wrong.

He still probably disagrees with me on about 90% of things, but I 100% agree that he's been pretty impressive and pretty independent minded.

I guess maybe he's like the John McCain on the Democratic side? A guy who's generally still solidly partisan, but gives off enough independent vibes that it's not hard for the other side to respect him a bit.

Why do Democrats need to pick someone palatable to Republicans while they pick someone who hates all things associated with Democrats?
Dems don't have to pick someone palatable to Republicans. They should, however, recognize that many issues they support as a party are far outside what the majority of Americans support. That's what Fetterman is saying. It's not binary. The middle has more influence than you seem to accept.

You can't get much more middle than Biden.

That may have been true when Biden was a Senator. It was far from true when Biden was POTUS. As I've said often, I had high hopes for Biden when he was elected, but that was based on his approach as a Senator. He went far left, even after he was elected.

I find the republicans line of thinking on this hilarious. He has a masters from harvard but he has to learn how the senate works. Yet you'll be fine with any chucklehead trump puts up for a post because they were on fox news.

Which President(s) during your lifetime most closely reflected what you want from a leader?

In your mind, having a masters from Harvard is better experience to be a senator, than actually having been president is for being president?😄😁😆😅😂🤣

They stayed home because they weren't excited to vote. The middle isn't working for Dems.

Is there data suggesting it was the mythical middle that stayed home? Based on the anti-Israel stuff I just assumed it was once again the progressive wing that chose to stay home or cast a protest vote against the DNC.

Fetterman is a shining example of the power of low expectations. The fact he's even a us senator would be embarrassing in any other time line... now just showing a bit of common sense on a few issues gets praised. Crazy times.
lol, your self awareness meter needs a recalibration.

joe biden was "far left" in the way that trump and his supporters call anything they don't like "far left"

what were the far left policies he enacted?

jesus read it again.
Harvard is irrelevant: it's the complaining about his level of education as a qualifier for a democrat, when our current leader (and people like you) have 0 complaints with the dolt trump picked. Especially when the person you're complaining about went to harvard. This excuse was also used with Obama.
Trump didn't have experience the first time and he was horrific and is still horrific. Trumps first term should have been an automatic disqualifier.
