Let's review:
Trump's trade war w China cost US farmers billions.
Trump spends 34 billion of taxpayer cash to placate farm vote with handouts.
Biden's farm policy results in 3 straight years (21-23) of all time record farm net income.
2024 sees near record crop and low grain prices.
Now the GOPers from farm states want more pre-emptive handouts to buffer ag economy from Trump's future trade war?
This Trump philosophy of tariffs, subsidies for friends who voted for him, is 180 degrees opposite of what the GOP stood for the last 100 years.
I have some farm ownership and I know that equity is up, debt level not super high and guys are still scrambling to make year-end truck and equipment purchases for tax purposes.
I like free taxpayer cash but part of me wants farmers to get what they voted for which is bad trade policies from Trump.
I definitely want farmers to get what they voted for. We have to pay the price for the deregulation of all the pesticides that Trump allowed them to use so they can feel the pain of stupid trade policy decisions (which we feel the price of with higher food prices).Let's review:

Farmers want socialism for them and capitalism for everyone else.
Someone ought to take those bootstraps to the rear ends of these MAGAs.The same can be said for pretty much every republican/MAGA. They want their government provided goodies and for everyone else to do the bootstraps thing
Does that include the seed corn caps, too?Give our Great Patriot Farmers the Marxist Aid already!
I dislike farm subsidies, but almost all of that money is recirculated many times over into our economy.I have never in my life been against farm aid/subsidies but it’s probably time to let farmers get what they overwhelmingly voted for.
Stanzi….the “evil” of these programs is far out-weighed by the good they create…..I am rather surprised you see the intrinsict values to government programs…..but I believe “recirculating currency” is the main outcome of most government programs. I would throw income taxes into the equation too. For many of the same reasons.I dislike farm subsidies, but almost all of that money is recirculated many times over into our economy.
Same thing with food stamps, I dislike them, but it's all recirculated back into economy.
Well, food stamps is also technically a theft and robbery deterrent too.Stanzi….the “evil” of these programs is far out-weighed by the good they create…..I am rather surprised you see the intrinsict values to government programs…..but I believe “recirculating currency” is the main outcome of most government programs. You could say the same thing about literally any government handout.I dislike farm subsidies, but almost all of that money is recirculated many times over into our economy.

Any of the sorority girls understand what the word net means? I thought so. I assume everyone knows that it was FDR and the D's that planted the seeds for all the Ag programs that have evolved today...Biden's farm policy results in 3 straight years (21-23) of all time record farm net income.
Why is it relevant that the Ag programs were started 90 years ago? Of course, compensating farmers because of a major ecological disaster versus "just because" are completely different things but sure.Any of the sorority girls understand what the word net means? Even Bill Clinton understood that once you start an entitlement program, they just snowball and can never be reeled back in...Why is it relevant that the Ag programs were started 90 years ago? They didn't vote for this. They voted to protect the sanctity of women's bathrooms, the assault on Christianity in America and the right to once again say "Merry Christmas" law and order that only a convicted felon can provide, anger against brown people, and love of the flag that a WOC with a funny laugh wouldn't understand.I have never in my life been against farm aid/subsidies but it’s probably time to let farmers get what they overwhelmingly voted for.

Is anyone really “shocked” at the Republican shitshow in DC? The only reason it isn’t controversial in Iowa is because the Democrats are so damn helpless and outnumbered.Johnson is the accidental speaker, and his caucus is a s**t show. Nobody should be shocked at the dysfunction.
In economic theory, Any time you create a subsidy you create a dead weight loss to society. Overall we all lose. That is because goods are no longer produced in the most cost efficient manner. Further, you create winners and losers in the economy. Wealth is transferred from one group to another. FWIW this is the same argument against tariffs.I dislike farm subsidies, but almost all of that money is recirculated many times over into our economy.
Same thing with food stamps, I dislike them, but it's all recirculated back into economy.
There was no de-regulation of pesticides that happened under the Trump administration. The EPA followed the exact same policies and procedures during the Trump administration that they always followed. You’re way out of your lane on this one. Trust me.I definitely want farmers to get what they voted for. We have to pay the price for the deregulation of all the pesticides that Trump allowed them to use so they can feel the pain of stupid trade policy decisions (which we feel the price of with higher food prices).
You mean the EPA that was run by this guy? There was no de-regulation of pesticides that happened under the Trump administration. The EPA followed the exact same policies and procedures during the Trump administration that they always followed. You’re way out of your lane on this one. Trust me.
You specifically said pesticides were de-regulated during the Trump administration. That’s not true. That statement was what I referring to. The use neo-nics and the decrease of specific insect populations has nothing to do with Trump administration and certainly deserves more scrutiny. My only fear is that these issues will be decided by politics and not science. The w EPA guidelines regarding the ESA is a prime example. Many of the guidelines, imo, are ridiculous, will not have the desired impact, and are impossible to enforce. You mean the EPA that was run by this guy?
The same guy who had to resign from his position because he was too corrupt for a Trump administration?
I mean, I'll admit that I'm not an expert on the chemical makeup of pesticides or the various safety records of them or their environmental impact, but I do know that groups that pay attention to these things were NOT happy with the Trump administration for doing it. I also know that there has been a complete crash in insect population over the last couple decades. You can witness this for yourself by just looking at how few insects are on your windshield after driving on the freeway for an hour in August. Sure, it may be less annoying, but it's devastating for ecosystems. Obviously this problem goes back far longer than the first Trump administration, but they certainly didn't help it and to claim they didn't deregulate them is just false.
Analysis: Trump EPA Approved 100-plus Products With Pesticides Banned Elsewhere or Slated for U.S. Phaseout
The Environmental Protection Agency approved more than 100 pesticide products in 2017 and 2018 that contained ingredients widely considered to be the most dangerous still in use, including some that have been banned in multiple countries or targeted for phaseout in the United States, according...biologicaldiversity.org
Should be a combination of insurance, and government help at certain levels.I'm still very much in favor of ag aid, but I definitely understand the sentiment. Especially with the rise of social grievance politics.

Regulation is way different than policies and procedures. There was no de-regulation of pesticides that happened under the Trump administration. It’s not and it just shows how weak his side is on this subject. Fvcking hypocrites, every single MAGA turd out there. Why is it relevant that the Ag programs were started 90 years ago? Of course, compensating farmers because of a major ecological disaster versus "just because" are completely different things but sure.
Do farmers still get 80k trucks and build new houses on the farmstead? You want to go full socialist?**** insurance. Our nation should value the ability to be self sufficient in food production, and support the ag sector.
When distilled down, having the ability to feed ourselves is a national defense issue.
