He's talking about fascism from a media perspective and he's right. That being said, what Trump is doing right now sure smells and tastes like fascism. It's apparent the guy wants to be Putinesque.

Do you think there will be an election in 2028?It's Jerry.
The Huey and Chis types. I think a lot of people would know the type of humans I’m talking about. They are on socials, they are politicians, on legacy media, etc… They are all over the place.Who are you talking to? Because it's hard to tell with these types of posts. They dance around from the highest levels of power all the way down to accounts on rivals that might not even be real people, and ironically seem to weigh the impact as nearly equal.
He says our foreign policy is peace through strength. I would argue that his domestic policy is the same. He's talking about fascism from a media perspective and he's right. Cut him some slack. He's probably high on meth.I know you think you're being cute, but history shows that the established legal means is typically the way authoritarian governments come about.
LOLHe says our foreign policy is peace through strength. I would argue that his domestic policy is the same.
What a compelling argument

There’s the insult. Right on cue. 🙏
Do you think there will be an election in 2028?
Well it’s Huey and chis “types” all over social and the legacy media. When they cry wolf over and over again those types do have influence regarding the outcomes of a national election with social media. That's what it sounded like. Doesn't that seem odd to you that you give Huey and Chis that level of influence in regards to outcomes, yet the alternative choices conduct themselves in the same if not worse ways?

In response to the alternative choices and how they conduct themselves, I think it is just as dumb calling people marxists or commies. In terms of influence, I think the culture war through social media makes it easier to attack marginalized groups of individuals Such as Trans people as they are small compared to let’s say independents. If you attack 1 trans person you are attacking a very small percentage of the voting bloc but if you attack one independent you are attacking a massive percentage of the voting bloc.
It really took Jon Stewart for people to realize all the fascist crap is crap?
I’ve seen that thrown around but never really read into that ism. What about reactionism should I look into and how it effects todays current political world?Brother, you should read on the Reactionism.
I’ve seen that thrown around but never really read into that ism. What about reactionism should I look into and how it effects todays current political world?
So sounds a lot like populism in a sense just with social media you have a populace react faster and louder which in turn creates this reactionary style of government? It's not reactionsims effects that matter so much as how that mindset is being used to fundamentally change how our government functions and what our role as voters in that system will be.
You nailed it. Well done.👍Call it what you want but I love the current mood of the country…so bring on more fascism if that’s what it is. I love seeing actually transparency and common sense from our govt
I liken it to when the tea party was formed. Social media was still in its infancy as the boomers were still playing FarmVille but if we had it then I would be presenting something along the lines of what Jon is saying here.
There were plenty of outlandish things said about Obama but the right used Marxist and socialist a lot during that time. I’m sure if we had socials back then it would have been in overdrive with the Tea Party.
We are obviously not a fascist nation lead by NAZIs that the left and the media has made it out to be as we just had an election 3 weeks ago where Republicans won. They have been beating this narrative since 2015 with Trump and the republicans. At some point these words lose their actual meaning along the way and the left uses it to attack everyone not on board with one item on their agenda.
I think with independents growing as a voting bloc and the left using these to describe the middle now it will hurt them long term in national elections. Calling someone a NAZI because they think some of the things Trump is doing is good is not the way Dems. It’s all about the messaging and you have been failing horribly as is seen in this thread.
So sounds a lot like populism in a sense just with social media you have a populace react faster and louder which in turn creates this reactionary style of government?
Which we are knocking on the door of.
Uh, Stewart may be an intellectual pharaoh to MAGAs but he's a goddamed comedian.
Yes I know the rhetoric on the right. I live in Iowa haha.Your last paragraph. I agree, but you do realize the rhetoric from the Right, outside of this board dwarfs the occasional Nazi references. The Orange Turd's is so ridiculous in his speeches and pronouncements we pass if off and/or ignore it as immature, childish behavioral disorder. Be careful in biasing the argument. This is after all the POTUS, and before that a citizen with the largest microphone in the world speaking to the lowest informed electorate.
He is a pathological liar without conscience. He doesn't care that he can say anything and be held to account. He lies about critical matters: absurd, ridiculous things that are out of bounds of sane thinking or reasoning. Saying Ukraine attacked Russia is insanity. International leaders look at the United States and see the Orange Turd. Gone is respect. Trust.
MAGAs see this as a funny joke. This was a pathetic exercise in his 1st term. He worships strong leaders. The President of the United States in the most powerful leader in the world and looks up and across to no leaders(s). He has already taken the country toward disrespect and dishonor.
He's a child in a fat slob body.
It's an old way of doing things and not a very effective way, imo.He says our foreign policy is peace through strength. I would argue that his domestic policy is the same.
John Stewart is merely a guy that works hard to not let political bias interfere with sound thinking. Or block the truth. And he’s not afraid to call out influential people who fail to do this. His “debate” with Bill O’Reilly was great in that regard.
He has talked about this subject numerous times on the daily show and in his weekly podcast. So, I don't watch his show. He made this remark which excited MAGAs. What percentage of his production would you say favors MAGAs.
Is this an anomaly or typical?
If we're talking sound thinking and no political bias, he must he have lots of zingers MAGAs salivate over.
You overestimate Huey.It was a statement about the forum in general. Not hard to understand, Huey.
Yes I know the rhetoric on the right. I live in Iowa haha.
Yeah I agree on Trump with how he goes about the trolling and such. Regarding your “gone is respect” comment I disagree. The US still has the most respect of any nation just because of how much global power we have. People can disrespect Trump and shit he is saying and doing but the USA as a whole is very well respected imo.
Stewart absolutely despises Trump and all things MAGA, but he also is not averse to pointing out when Dems are engaging in counterproductive behavior. That’s why it’s worth listening to his point regarding fascism. So, I don't watch his show. He made this remark which excited MAGAs. What percentage of his production would you say favors MAGAs.

I don’t always agree with Stewart, but his opinions are almost always well-reasoned and almost always worth at least considering.
The TDS is strong in this one.The country is larger than the Orange Turd. But how much longer? And what parts of the world. There is a threshold respect and trust are broken. Once that occurs it's gone. The United States has been the world's peace and empathy broker since World War Two, however shaky. We have assisted countries which has stabilized regions. NATO is an umbrella of security far more important than a narcissist's obsession with contribution of GDP. Not to beat a dead horse, but we're talking about a convicted felon with a history of fraud civil suits, unable to conduct business or non-profits in New York, with the COO of his company in prison complaining about countries not contributing adequate percentage of GDP.
Consider nearly 20, I admit I admit I lost count of his previous administration and orbit were indicted, convicted and/or served prison terms, and have no problem predicting this number will pale when the numbers come in on this term.
If we back out of NATO and continue to intimate threats to countries it will threaten our reputation and erode trust.
The Turd is a circus clown, but we've found he will follow through with his extremism and ignorance of geopolitical reality.
Smh…. So embarrassingly laughable.From wiki:
"Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy."
We are by definition in fascism right now. To the letter.
That’s not the point at all and I’m not sure why you think it is.Like I pointed out, there's a reason there isn't Right wing comedians. It ain't funny.
That’s not the point at all and I’m not sure why you think it is.
First of all, Stewart is not your average Hollywood celebrity. He’s much more intelligent and articulate than most of them. And he’s not just a comedian. He’s also an accomplished interviewer and he has testified in front of Congress.
But the point here is that when someone like Stewart, who hates Trump with every fiber of his being, says some of the rhetoric being used by Dems isn’t helpful, you might want to consider the possibility that some of the rhetoric you’re using isn’t helpful.
Probably because the randoms on this site continue to defend the media and elected officials who use the rhetoric and follow suit in using it themselves. He said the rhetoric used by the media and elected officials was extreme. Why does this continue to be applied to randoms on this site?
I also said social media which in turn is the American people aka HORTProbably because the randoms on this site continue to defend the media and elected officials who use the rhetoric and follow suit in using it themselves.
Trump is quickly losing that respect. Like at lightening speed.Yes I know the rhetoric on the right. I live in Iowa haha.

If you read this in a Trump voice it sounds like something Trump would say at a press conference about his political opponent.Trump is quickly losing that respect. Like at lightening speed.
If you're reading "Trump," and "Respect," in the same sentence, and not laughing your head off, then you probably have none yourself. If you read this in a Trump voice it sounds like something Trump would say at a press conference about his political opponent.
We were not liked by a lot of countries. In the last week, it’s gotten worse.Trump is quickly losing that respect. Like at lightening speed.
