Jones

See how the LB situation shakes out. Jones put up good numbers, hope Hockaday isn't out for long.

Amani Jones was great. Team high 9 tackles (5 solo), a sack, and two tackles for loss.
He bounced back quite well. Good for him. Just getting settled in.Targeting call iffy at best. Need him to play well. On his way. Has shown real toughness. Getting pulled that way? Him and Phil doing job well. Look forward to his next big step.

Amani plays his heart out, and it's just plain BS that he got hit with that bogus "targeting" call. That was a tremendous, and entirely legal, football play. What a hit! The man has a motor that puts the Energizer Bunny to shame. He has made similar hits this year on special teams. If he can slow the rev a little between plays and make sure he gets his calls right, he'll be even more awesome. I just feel bad for him if he has to sit out the first half next week because he's a far better football player than the booth guy is an official. Just plain ludicrous call. Terrible.

He was around the ball a lot. He made some tackles about 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage, though. He got some good experience.

You see flashes of why he won the job. When he correctly diagnoses a play and goes to the ball, he gets there in a hurry and gets the guy on the ground. The TFL on the QB out of wildcat was tremendous. Stayed on his key of the QB, as soon as he saw the QB had the ball sliced past a block, grabbed 2 legs on the big QB and got him on the ground. The sack was also good. Once he decided to leave coverage and go after the QB he got there in a hurry. The issue is the other plays where he is a little more indecisive on what's he's seeing. But the amount of snaps he got yesterday will help him. Too bad about the targeting, as getting a full week to prepare and start would have been great for him.
