I know Iowa is recruiting JB to play PG, just wondering if that is the position he has played the last few years?

Linn-Mar 69 Cedar Falls 61
Bohannon 7-17, 2-8 3pt, 4-4 FT, 20pts, 6 rb, 1 assist, 2 stl, FGA

Looks like Jordan B had an off night shooting, still scored 20 and his team won.

Having 2 cerebral, fundamentally sound guards, like Jordan B and Connor is going to
bode well for IOWA in the future.

I've never seen Jordan play, but have read quite a bit about him and have watched some of his videos. My sense is that he'll end up being a backup point guard. Next year will be interesting in terms of who takes the position, but my guess is it will be Christian Williams When Connor arrives, I think he's the point from day one.

I'd think that's possible, with Williams sliding to the wing for at least part of the time. I think you'll see that a bit next year with Williams and Bohannon too.

Don't understand why everyone is down on Jordan B. He's a high three/low four star point guard. ESPN, which has an anti Iowa bias, has him in the top 125. I'm not sure why he's been banished to the bench already.

Because the lack of knowns to worry about are so slim that the starved for butterflies in the belly must open and eat the unknowns.

What I like about Jordan Bohannon as a PG is that defenses will have to play him as a shooter. That's going to free up the middle for our wings and bigs to have room to operate and if you look how Fran is building this team in the "life after Woodbury" phase, you'll see more of what we're getting from Dom Uhl.. long wings and bigs that can shoot and put the ball on the floor.

That spreads out a defense and allows guys more room to work. With Cook, Kriener, Pemsl, and Wagner we sill have big bodies to run ball screens and screen action off the ball to free up guys.

Williams and Bohannon playing pg will fun to watch! Just different skill sets which could give teams a lot of trouble.

We lose a heck of a lot this year but the post Woodnuts era is going to be really entertaining.

You can see the years of experience paying off in each phase of play. Just pure basketball at its best. The starters seem to be playing their best ball of their careers.

Just not so sure if that trouble they give will be next season. I expect Iowa to take some lumps next year. Going to be really lacking experience in the backcourt.

CW will be a third year player and at this point we have no idea how effective he will be.

Fran's not going to just give the job to his son.

Who's ever the best will be the point and that certainly can't be determined from day one.

I watched Linn-mar and cf play last night. Was hoping to see a great match up between a young AJ Green and bohannon. With linn mars system Jordan just doesn't play as a traditional point guard. AJ is a very solid young player, actually wish he'd be more selfish/assertive. That being said I think Jordan has the purer shot. Didn't shoot great last night but his stroke looks really nice.

The best athlete in the gym, and it wasn't close, was Travon Fagan from cf. Talked to some cf folks before the game and they said when they played whalert he outplayed pemsl easily as well. Tough match up for pemsl though...really struggled to guard Fagan in space. But if pemsl got position and the ball on the block they couldn't stop him.

I think Fran and fans can project pretty well who will win the starting job. IIRC while Gesell was being recruited he was told he'd be handed the keys immediately. I would have been really surprised to see anyone else get the starting job, when he arrived, although he did have to come in and play as coach expected him to play.

I'm not sure who'll win the starting job next year, but if Connor comes in with the ability his potential seems to indicate, I wouldn't be surprised to see him start from Day 1. Right now Connor looks to be our #1 PG option starting in 2017. Fran likes recruits that can play multiple positions, so we'll see how Williams and Bohannon fit into his rotation.

There was no other PGs on the roster when Mike got here other than Clemmons and they both started.

I think its a waste of time to project the starting PG two seasons from now without having even seen two of the three play and the other hardly play.

Allot of fans projected Flemming to be starting and or seeing major minutes this season.

I still don't think that a lightning quick guard like Ulis, Simpson, or Moore is necessary in Fran's offense. Obviously they are a bonus in any offense, but it appears that Fran is loading the court with athletic guys who can score from almost anywhere.

In my opinion, what we need is one guy who can lead the offense and be a facilitator for all this talent. We are seeing that from Mike Gesell this year and he is one of the more efficient players in the Big Ten, and has been really quite underrated in terms of his contributions to the team this year.

Having a guy who can be that facilitator but can shoot as well seems like it'll bode well. Connor McCaffery seems to be able to add that as well, as does Williams at this point. What should separate the guys is defense

I think a Junior Williams will be ahead of a freshman Cmac. It will be a nice problem to have.

Positionless basketball. As long as we've got the talent to get the ball across midcourt, point guard can and will be handled by committee. We've seen what having a Clemmons in the game does for Gesell.

Clemons is the designated defensive stopper. That is crucial to winning games.
