It's a bummer, but not all that surprising. Coaching changes = decommits
At 37, would this kid have been Fran's top recruit ever?
Maybe we can grab a couple gals from the end of Jan's bench to fill out the roster. All recruits could decommit, will be interesting to see what the lineup will look like next year.
The price to be paid for coaching changes. If we get a winner like McCollum or DeVries, better players will be committing soon enough.
Not a Fran hater, but am definitely an it's-time-for-Fran-to-go guy and am not going to lose sleep over this kid decommitting. Happens everywhere every time there's a HC change. Are we supposed to hang on to a HC forever just because we might lose a good recruit?Where are all the Fran haters on this thread??
Such a silly comment. So what Fran gets a lifetime contract because we might lose a recruit? Wake up.....Where are all the Fran haters on this thread??
What is this supposed to mean?Where are all the Fran haters on this thread??
Are you going to post this in every thread?Where are all the Fran haters on this thread??
Was he going to be the at least the National Player of the Year, or a 1st round pick? We saw what Fran was able to do with those weapons. Give me a break lol.Where are all the Fran haters on this thread??
Just wanted to see what all the Fran haters had to say about blowing up the program....it might work out just fine, but anyone who didn't expect the program to get blown up was fooling themselves...Are you going to post this in every thread?
A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...Such a silly comment. You do realize Lewis never signed with Iowa, only commited to Fran. That doesn’t sound like a guy that was truly committed to being a Hawk. If so, he would if signed an LOI. Not that it matters anymore if anything happens with a program.A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
Stop being a pussyA recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
So in your world we should never fire a coach no matter the results because it would cause players/recruits to leave?A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
AND. Whats you plan? I already asked. Does Fran get a lifetime contract of mediocrity, so that we don't risk starting over? Here's the deal. 15 years at Iowa, and the other three teams he took to the dance. No trips to the second weekend. NONE. We've seen Frans best shot, when he had Garza and the Murray twins and it was more of the same come March. Time to take a shot and someone else.....A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
Blowing up a below-average Iowa basketball program was exactly what we wanted. Time to bring in a winner and rebuild.A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
I can't tell if you're trolling or not. The program getting nuked was talked about, expected, and most everyone was/is okay with it. The portal will "Crean" the program and allow the new coach a jump start on getting guys who will fit his program, and most importantly, eliminate guys who will carry any sort of bad blood over the ordeal. Will we miss the guys on the roster? Absolutely. Do we wish some would stay? Yes. That's not realistic. They came to play for Fran, and deserve a chance to go where they're happy--just as the new coach deserves to insert pieces he feels are the best fit for his team.Just wanted to see what all the Fran haters had to say about blowing up the program....it might work out just fine, but anyone who didn't expect the program to get blown up was fooling themselves...
P.S...I'll take the under on 20 wins next year no matter the incoming coach

I will be shocked if pryce plays anywhere but iowa next yearThere are going to be a lot of moving parts with Iowa and other schools as well. Need to just sit back and see what happens.
Josh only had two official visits, S Florida and Iowa. Supposedly, Virginia Tech was going to bring him in, but decided not to. We will see what options he has.
Brock, great teammate, worked very hard and did improve. But is he a starting PG for P4 school. Again, we will see.
Pryce - definitely had a better year and did improve. Getting stronger really helped him. But will have to play defense at his new school. Will be interesting.
Do not think any are going to get a large NIL deal, but I could be wrong.
Best of luck to all of them. But I do not think they are anything to lose sleep over.
I'm not sure they even sign an actual LOI anymore. I think theres a different process now. Even so it's not worth the paper its printed on anyway, given the current set up.You do realize Lewis never signed with Iowa, only commited to Fran. That doesn’t sound like a guy that was truly committed to being a Hawk. If so, he would if signed an LOI. Not that it matters anymore if anything happens with a program.
You’re right we should’ve just hung around the mediocre level forever without trying to change anything. The guy coached for over 30 years and had zero sweet 16s but hey, I’m sure this one recruit would’ve put us over the top and into the promised land.Just wanted to see what all the Fran haters had to say about blowing up the program....it might work out just fine, but anyone who didn't expect the program to get blown up was fooling themselves...
