If the rumors about NIL funding and other promises to DD are accurate, Iowa can put together an extremely competitive roster for many seasons.
Another reason why a quick hire could be beneficial. If he bought into playing at Iowa once, it might be easier to get a recommit.for now.
"I was excited about playing for Coach Fran...but after the recent changes to the coaching staff I feel it's in my best interest to explore other opportunities."
Blowing up a below-average Iowa basketball program was exactly what we wanted. Time to bring in a winner and rebuild.
People didn’t want to blow it up but wanted change and for the better. Program has become stale under Fran. Freeman had one foot out the door so keep telling yourself he would’ve stayed. Harding isn’t a big 10 caliber starter G. Pryce if we get Devries odds are he’s back as they were HS teammates.A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
Dunno, but 37 seems pretty old for a recruit. So probably. At 37, would this kid have been Fran's top recruit ever?
Kirk has it appears.AND. Whats you plan? I already asked. Does Fran get a lifetime contract of mediocrity, so that we don't risk starting over? Here's the deal. 15 years at Iowa, and the other three teams he took to the dance. No trips to the second weekend. NONE. We've seen Frans best shot, when he had Garza and the Murray twins and it was more of the same come March. Time to take a shot and someone else.....
Did you mean 3? 🤔 No matter, I hope they all follow him along with his son obviously….
If we get devries he has four 4 stars signed for 2025
you sound upset we let Fran go. Really?A recruit??....add in 3 more recruits, the freshman of the year in the Big Ten and at least three potential starters off the current team...just state the obvious- people wanted to blow up the program and that's what they got...
Still here.Where are all the Fran haters on this thread??
I still think Kirks highs have been higher. and personally I think its a lot harder to turn things around in football the basketball. Just IMHO of course..Kirk has it appears.
What the hell are you talking about?Just wanted to see what all the Fran haters had to say about blowing up the program....it might work out just fine, but anyone who didn't expect the program to get blown up was fooling themselves...
P.S...I'll take the under on 20 wins next year no matter the incoming coach
I'm shocked I tell you.for now.
"I was excited about playing for Coach Fran...but after the recent changes to the coaching staff I feel it's in my best interest to explore other opportunities."
But do they want to come to Iowa? It’s fine. I halfway expected this. Whoever the new coach is will bring bodies (and potentially recruits) with him. It’s why I prefer devries to mccollum. Devries has a good recruiting class lined up at WVU for 2025 (three 4 stars)
Maybe but again my intuition says he not worry about defenseAnother reason why a quick hire could be beneficial. If he bought into playing at Iowa once, it might be easier to get a recommit.
Yep all the Fran haters have been elected as last FridayAre you going to post this in every thread?
At 37, definitely his oldest recruit everAt 37, would this kid have been Fran's top recruit ever?
Do they want to come to Iowa with the NIL Iowa will pay them? That’s the question. But do they want to come to Iowa?
At #37 he's better than a "good recruit".Not a Fran hater, but am definitely an it's-time-for-Fran-to-go guy and am not going to lose sleep over this kid decommitting. Happens everywhere every time there's a HC change. Are we supposed to hang on to a HC forever just because we might lose a good recruit?
Granville Waiters?Greg Odom ?
Right, because Fran has shown just how far he can take us with a National Player of the Year, multiple-year consensus All Americans, and multiple first-round NBA draft picks. I mean all those Sweet Sixteens and Elite Eights. Why on earth would we cut him loose and miss out on the #37 ranked recruit. Lol.At #37 he's better than a "good recruit".

I can’t imagine (other than slightly better weather) what Morgantown, WV has to offer that’s so much greater than IC.But do they want to come to Iowa?
Been there (never lived there) and if you are an avid outdoorsman, it is a great place to live. But it is pretty desolate, little backward, and definitely has a "Deliverance" vibe to it, kind of disconcerting. But it is a beautiful state. Agreed, 35% win percentage in the BIG. Time to roll the dice and take a chance for bigger things. Can 't het much worse.Blowing up a below-average Iowa basketball program was exactly what we wanted. Time to bring in a winner and rebuild.
Don’t bet on it! More Iowa players and recruits jumping ship than other schools! The problem is that these players were loyal to Fran not the university! Unless the NIL is fixed whoever is coach will have a great challenge! Hopefully, Beth can do her magic! I am not sure if anyone in her top five are available until they lose in the postseason! The price to be paid for coaching changes. If we get a winner like McCollum or DeVries, better players will be committing soon enough.
