Some big names went down today...Manville lost to Hidlay who seems to have his # no matter the style. Suriano lost to Arujau in the last few seconds.

Manville's progression seems to have stalled. Suriano lost to a more aggressive wrestler. Between Yianni and Arujau, Cornell has a couple of absolute hammers coming in. Those two keep getting better and better and better

Both of PSU's recruits had zero offense in the finals. To his credit at least Manville tried to score. Suriano tried to stall to a 1-0 victory.

Makes you realize how much of a stud Kemerer is as a recruit. He beat Hidlay 6-3 at the State tourny, in a pretty one sided match. And here Hidlay is this off season owning Manville in Greco, Freestyle, and Folkstyle. I think Kemerer's attacking style will come to fruition here at Iowa and he will be something special.

Edit: Actually I was wrong, he beat him 9-4 in the Semis.

In Suriano's defense, this is his first live wrestling since NJ states I believe.

I did a fist pump at the end of the Suriano/Arujau match. Arujau initiated all the offense and never gave up. I don't think it's sour grapes to say that he deserved to win that, and I'm glad he did.

It blows my mind how many times Manville has lost in the past year or so. I never would have predicted that.

I assume the PSU faithful and Carl are having similar thoughts....for awhile now
