JT Barrett

Lots of people get in trouble because "of no fault of their own"...send a selfie to the White House for a shout out... That dog-gone faulty testing equipment the police use!

Apparently, the OSU student athlete policy is to suspend him for 2 weeks. Looks like there's not much Urban can do to weasel his player out of this.
Yeah two weeks not two games.. You know what that brings him back in time for.. MIGHTY ILLINOIS

That is just stunning news.

2 weeks...looks like he'll be on the field for MSU and UM if true.

Still though...I know the kids will be kids angle and all that. But, life is a series of decisions we all make, and that was a very bad one he made early this morning.

Looks like Urban will have a chance to back up his rhetoric from the Bill O'Reilly interview.
This could be really interesting!!

Ohio State AD Gene Smith tells @espn, J.T. Barrett will be allowed to play Nov. 14 at Illinois

Apparently, Gene “How the Hell Do I Still Have a Job After the Tressel Fiasco” Smith is leaving it up to Urban “Discipline? What’s That?” Meyer whether Jones sits out two games or two weeks.

Because Barrett is not legally old enough to drink, he could be subject to a two-week suspension based on Ohio State’s student-athlete drug and alcohol policy. Ohio State athletics director Gene Smith, however, told ESPN on Saturday morning that because the charge was a misdemeanor, Barrett would not be subject to the mandatory two-week suspension.

That right there tells u everything u need to know about O$U. Underage, drinking and driving, and the AD doesn't even waste a day by immediately releasing a statement like that.

Oh and Cardell was in the car with him. You can bet there will be a FULL investigation to see if he was guilty of underage drinking. Can you imagine how this might have gone down in Iowa City?

Agreed. Major LOL at "it was only a misdemeanor." Seriously? They have a drug and alcohol policy, but it only applies to felonies? So basically, just make sure you don't kill anyone when driving drunk, and you're in the clear?

Didn't Cardale just pick him up after he was released by the police?

What a great example to show young kids...o_O If I had a young impressionable son or daughter who was a huge CFB fan or (god forbid) an O$U fan, I would be PISSED. Drugs and alcohol should be a ZERO tolerance policy with college athletes, with a minimum suspension of 1/3 of the season.

James Ferentz got caught with a group vandalizing public property. After his punishment, he started for the rest of his career. Tells you everything you need to know about Iowa.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to think that AFTER his punishment he should have been punished again.

Is that like second breakfast?

No, it really doesn't. What I would need to know is what WAS the punishment? If it was reasonable, I would have no problem with him starting after it was completed.

Did you feel that way when Bob Sanders got busted ? Iowa defensive back Bob Sanders pled guilty to drunken driving charges from May.

Barrett's punishment has already been announced. It was announced quickly. It seems appropriate. You have to be a special kind of stupid to criticize it unless you think OSU's getting away with something special (and they're not).

Maybe YOU should be your child's role model and example.

Nothing in Columbus regarding player discipline (or lack there of) should surprise anyone.

Not criticizing Barrett's punishment. Criticizing your comment about Ferentz needing to be punished TWICE.

I didn't say he needed to be punished twice. This thread looked like it was going in the direction of "WOW, O$U just gets away with whatever because they're O$U. Iowa would have done the right thing." Iowa has had behavior issues with its FB players and it has dealt with them pretty fairly and consistently. OSU is doing the same thing here.

I don't remember, TBH. I may have felt differently 10+ years ago. If JTB had been arrested in the off season I would be less aggravated by a 1 game punishment.

It aint about OSU. They will be fine either way. It is more about the message it sends to the starry-eyed 12 year olds that look up to these guys.
