mr hawk reporting on TOS that this explosive athlete recently camped with the Illini. Mr hawk senses another flip may be on the horizon

He is related to Tommie Harris who played for Lovie Smith so could be something there. Not sure what Juan meant in his tweet at AJ and Eno

If he bolts we will survive. At this point i think we all would probably take a sigh of relief. If he pulls this bait n switch again the kid is a world class flake.

He's not related to Tommie Harris, Tommie himself called him out way back when on twitter.

This young man has some serious character issues. If he de-commits again I hope Coach Ferentz is done with him. Actually, looking at all the defensive end commits that could switch to tackle, I'm not sure he will be greatly missed. He obviously has skills but his weight problem may keep him from achieving a lot of success at the college level.

Once there he'll start imagining playing in that half-full dump of a stadium, and get even more anxious to come to IC instead. Go hawks!

This guy has diva written all over and even if he makes it here, his loyalty will always be in question until he proves differently.

Not trying to defend the young man here, but I cut him a lot of slack. Before the last year or so... kid has not exactly had a great home life with paternal guidance present. He'll get it figured out at some point. If he ends up in IC... great. If not... I hope he finds success elsewhere.

Yeah it sounds like he didn't have the greatest homelife and maybe that is why it seems he seeks attention. Also obviously has an issue with self control, ie his weight.

I am not going to get worked up until there is a need to do so.....I would hope that we learned from cases like Noah Fant last year in which many posters were up in arms and talking bad about him. Then when he signed all was good and we were glad to have him on board. No matter who we bring in games will still be played, we will still have a full roster, and the sun will come up tomorrow

Amen, I can now sleep better tonight, knowing the sun will rise tomorrow!;)

I agree ... to a point. And if Harris can't decide for himself then maybe Iowa needs to help him make the decision (if indeed Harris is once again flirting with his verbal to Iowa) ... I understand these are "kids" but if you de-commit from the same school a third time? ... Well ... at some point you have to take ownership for your own decisions ...

I don't really follow recruiting much because it seems like Iowa's more of a "developmental" program and in the past some of the highest-ranked kids did absolutely NOTHING for the program. That said, my .02 here is we don't need this kid.

This is the second time he has been saying stuff to Iowa recruits on twitter. Coaches need to tell him either to get it together or he is not longer going to Iowa.

Yeah he was talkin crap to kallenberger a few months back which is odd

I don't think anyone could logically call him 100% committed till he signs his LOI. You could say that for every recruit but it is especially true with this one. I hope he signs with Iowa but wouldn't be shocked if he ends up elsewhere.

I'll be shocked if he ends up at Iowa at this point and quite frankly I don't really even care.

Let's just say mr hawk has a high degree of skepticism about the status of this verbal, and mr hawk has the best prediction record of anyone on the web regarding Iowa football recruiting. He successfully called 83 of the last 100 recruits

Wasn't this some sort of satellite camp, not "Illinois' camp."

Either way, this thread is absurd. Nobody even seems to know what happened, and have decided he needs go somewhere else.

How about this. Let's tie some stones to him and throw him in a lake. If he floats, he goes to Illinois, if he drowns he's a Hawk!

Here is the real question. Which outcome would be better for Juan?

I would say after his early shenanigans of committing and de committing, he is damn lucky to still have the Hawk offer. That being said, if he is not fully on board by now, and he de committs again, it will and should be hasta la vista baby by Kirk and Company. Let him play hide and seek somewhere else...................................Maybe the young man just wants to go to camp to learn and get in shape.

I see a few opinions here claiming indifference as to whether Harris stays. You watch -- If he commits to Lovie, he will be subsequently upgraded to a 4-star status by the commercial recruiting services which, in turn, will cause Hawkeye fans to blame Ferentz for losing another high ranked recruit.

i disagree, i think juan's story has been too publicized to garner that kind of a reaction. i think if he does go elsewhere it will be more of case of don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out, rather than blaming kirk.

but you never know, we hawkeye fans can be a fickle bunch...

i hope its a moot point and he stays and does great things on and off the field.

Young people do dumb stuff all the time. I wouldn't worry too much about what Juan Harris does one way or the other. If he ends up wanting to be a Hawk ... great. If he doesn't ... fine. At the end of the day, Iowa needs/wants guys who WANT to be Hawks and guys who will be invested. Harris is young and immature ... and ultimately, the decision of where to attend college is in his hands.

I hardly call being a HS football player and going to a football camp as dumb stuff. I would tell any kid to go to as many camps as you can, it can only help you. Verbally committing to a school doesn't mean you stay home and watch TV.

Nobidy forced him to verbally commit, twice. You are an enabler.

For all we know, Juan texted his recruiter (Reese Morgan?) asking if he could go to camp, and Morgan told him he should totally go, it'd be a great opportunity to work on his skills.

I would think floating would be a much better outcome for Juan.
