Junior National Results Day One

Nelson Brands in a tough first round...won 19-13 over a kid from Az. Az kid wasn't shabby...state champ from Seton Hall. Been around the block and is tough. Saw him wrestle down here at the Flowing Wells. Kid was slick but his lungs couldn't keep up with Brands. Fun fact...the kid from Az lost to Luke Troy in the finals of Freakshow last year...11-4

I didn't know what was wrong, just couldnt find him in the bracket. Know he has split with Sheets this year and was trying to find out more.

He's really come on late this year. Got smoked by Sheets at Southern Plains then beat him at Junior duals. He was oh so close to beating Wick at junior duals also. Lost on criteria. Granted it was the smaller Wick but he's still very good.

Thomsen just went down 8-6. Kid can't get anything started in his ties. He is going to have to learn some handfighting. Just looked disinterested.

Dayum Carter...get sum bubble gum.

Carter came out like a house on fire. Nice throw for four and then picked the kid up and then another feet to back. Girlfriend must have promised to cut him off if he didn't do well here.

Watched Max Murin have a nice 10-2 win over a kid from OK. I was surprised to see him up at 132, he looked pretty small next to his opponent. I'm curious as to whether he wrestled up to show colleges (Iowa) that he can be successful at 133. He struggled finishing his attacks in the first, but his superior technique and awesome gas tank was the difference in the 2nd. He definitely looks to push the pace for 6 full minutes.

Considering he has two years of HS left, I don't think that is likely the reason. But as usual, I know nothing.

Wagner got a brutal draw. He has Hoskins-OH(owns a win over Decatur) and then Courtney from AZ. if he can survive that meat grinder he'll find himself in the quarters in a very winnable match vs. Rosen of OK.

it should be smooth for Teasdale. He looks to be a collision course with Drew Mattin in the quarters. They may be the two best guys in the field.

I may be late on this one but I just found it a couple days ago. Have you guys used the "track mobile link." It's awesome. You can just plug in what team you want to follow(Iowa duh) and it tells you who is on deck next, bout number, mat etc.

Thanks I had no clue! Should make things easier for me.

So I don't always understand ages vs. the wrestling nomenclature. Is Thomsen a bit old for his class? Or will he still be able to wrestle juniors in two years?

Anyone else having issues w track wrestling hanging? Seems to be hung for about 2-3 matches on multiple devices.

Easy way to remember it(atleast for me)...Your sophomore year..If your bday is before January 1st your a 1st year junior. If it's after Jan.1 then you are a 2nd year cadet.

my track and flo are not on the same page. I can't follow anything since Wagner.

Cons. Semi - Eric Faught (Iowa) won by tech fall over Eric Barnett (Wisconsin) (TF 10-0)
Faught will get another shot at Ramos for 3rd/4th

**OOPS - wrong thread - Cadet update
