How can I have a different definition when I didn't even put one forward?
I bowed out of that particular derby when I asked for a definition and received several, of which two or three were directly contradictory. For instance, one guy said the words or phrases must sound the same, and another guy said they must NOT sound the same. One guy said the phrase or word must make a certain kind of sense, and another said the whole point of a WOB is that it makes no sense.
So I politely -- at least by my message board standards -- said that WOB was something invented here, so I wouldn't impose my opinion. What I originally thought would qualify as a WOB is an egg corn.
Hall of Cost is a true Want of Bee. As perfect as it gets.
I have a very strong feeling this wasn't an autocorrect situation. I believe the guy was just that stupid.
Whether it's a WOB or not, I have no opinion.
I heartily agree that it was not an autocorrect, since the phrase "hall of cost" has never appeared in the English language anywhere before.

For Lone:
WOB are substituting real words for the correct words with a similar but different sound.
Not WOB:
misspellings
terrible misspellings
homonyms - words that have the same exact sound but different meanings.
My boss's regular wob...he says we make concentrated efforts.
That is your definition of a WOB. It is not the definition given by others here. Which is why I have bowed out of the WOB definition/identification business.

Find the similarity between these and Want of Bee or Hall of Cost. These are all examples of true WoBs. Whatever words you want to use to find your definition here, feel free, but these are actual examples of what one looks like.
In your opinion. Others on this board would say they are not WOBs because a couple of them make sense.
For the record, those are good egg corns except "flash in the pants" and "lack toast and tolerant." Those don't qualify as egg corns because there's no way to interpret them as making some sort of sense, unlike "pre-Madonna" and "for all intensive purposes." In other words, there's no excuse for a person hearing the proper phrase used and thinking it was the egg corn. This is why "Want of Bee" is not an egg corn
One thing I do know is that an egg corn can be a WOB and a WOB can be an egg corn, but the compatibility is not universal.
Yes, but the "cost" part reflects the countless Jews that died. Hy vee on does not promote killing Jews and therefore associates its "Hall" with champions of various ages. I someday wish to visit this Hall of Cost.
