My wrestling always suffered because I lacked a mean streak. Never really did develop one. Back in the day, former Iowa national champ 158-pounder and family friend Dan Holm used to coach me a little. I'll never forget his advice: "Be a gentleman off the mat but an animal on the mat."

Dan didn't mean to be a poor sport on the mat but to be tough as nails and relentlessly aggressive. Mejia and Renteria seem to embody that style.
