Please show me the bill, I am not aware of any such bill that legalizes sex with a minor. What this bill does do is give discretion to the courts in situations where the 2 individuals are close in age and consenting to not be added to the sex registry. More than that it creates protections for the LGBTQ community with sex crimes. Effectively the code prior wasn’t protecting these individuals. But go ahead have a thread talking with yourself.

it is an amendment to a law that already existed. Old law allowed a judge to use his…judgement… to determine whether or not statutory rape exists in a penile/vaginal sexual encounter, so long as the older person is no more than a decade older than the younger, who must be 14 to consent. However, in gay/anal/oral sex situations, the judge did not have that ability and law required automatic sex offender registry. The new law lets the judge determine statutory rape in gay relations to.

Californias idiotic 10 year age gap, which has probably been on the books since the states founding when 25 year old dudes married 14 year olds, is the driver of the meme. And I fail to see a situation in which a 24 year old and a 14 year old are having sex in legitimate legal fashion, and most of the world probably does too. These laws write the memes so easily

I already went down the rabbit hole, passed quite strongly with republican support. As posted above, it’s more about the sex registry and giving more protections to the LGBTQ community who basically were not protected by the previous laws in some cases of sex crimes.
