Kate Martin 4th Quarter

Not much talked about Kate. She had a rough start, but was clutch in the 4th. That second one in the video over Paige was a thing of beauty.
Excellent observation. Kate took that elbow to the nose and came back out even tougher than ever. Without her effort late, including three or four fabulous fade-away jumpers, Iowa doesn't win that game, period. What an awesome effort at clutch time. She should have joined CC and Hannah in the postgame interview with Holly. Absolutely a Hawkeye hero . . . again.

Kate really is the team leader on the court. Muhl did a great job for UConn, keeping Caitlin uncomfortable and needing to constantly fight through her presence. The announcers reminded us of that over and over, but seemed to overlook the fact that Gabbie also kept Bueckers under control on the other end. Gabbie seems to regularly be the player who makes the critical play at crunch time. It is ridiculous that so many "analysts", many of whom are former UConn players, were whining about the moving pick call, where Gabbie basically got a forearm to the chops. This was the "worst" game Caitlin has had in a while, but the team came through.
