Kemerer @ 149 and Marinelli @ 157 on roster

Why would you be frustrated if Bull isn't a full sized 165 when 157 is his natural weight?

It would only be frustrating if Kem is too undersized to go 57, and then you pull Marinelli's shirt to wrestle 57, which still wouldn't result in a team title. It will be a bummer if Kem is planning to go 49 to try to beat out Sorenson.

To win the title we need mid to high AA finishes from 49, and 57 and AA at 65, and a healthy Stoll.

I don't know if it's reasonable to expect the Hawks to win a title this year. I think it's PSU's to lose barring injury or extracurricular activities. That said, the Hawks would need multiple titles to have a shot. This means NC's at 125 and 133, Sorensen in the finals at 149, and a healthy Stoll like you mention. I don't see any points from 141 or 197 (and 165 without Marinelli), so I think the Hawks need 7 AA's with two champs and three finalists...with bonus points.

To win the title we need our studs to be studs. We don't need anything from 165.

We need Gman, Clark, Sorensen, Kemdawg, Meyer, Brooks, and Stoll to kick ass. The other weights won't break us but they do have the potential to make us if one of our top 7 falters.
Art: The bull wants to be a 4 time national champ. Putting him out at 165 would be doing him a disservice unless he insists on going.

It looked like Grothus at 149 and Sorensen at 157 would have been best for the team. I believe Sorensen wrestled some 157 as a redshirt. At that time, the mentality seemed to be let them battle it out as they both wanted 149.

What is the mentality of the coaches? Produce individual champions? Team titles? Not that you can't do both but the best thing for a couple wrestlers might be to be at the same weight. Usually one may concede that the other is better and make a weight change or may want the challenge of going up.

What are some of the best backups Iowa has had? I am sure there must have been some studs not making the lineup during Gable's days.

Iowa might have been more balanced with Grothus @ 49 and Sorensen @ 57, but given the fact Grothus hurt his ankle at midlands and missed significant time, and Sorensen went on to beat the returning NCAA champ that season I would say that situation still worked out for the best.

Grothus ended up needing off season shoulder surgery too so not sure when that happened, but who is to say Grothus wasn't dinged up and goes 0-2 at NCAAs because he wasn't 100%?

I think Tom has done great over the past few years.

Alger behind Kistler. Terry Brands behind Martin. Zaputil behind Martin. Trizzino behind Davis. Whitmer behind Mena. Bush behind Ed Banach. Terry Steiner behind Streicher and vice-versa the following year. Tom Ryan behind Reiland.

Has someone told Slaton we need a 57, 65, and/or a part time heavy?

Was thinking about him for the question at hand. The 141 spot was his for 2nd semester in 2010 and he came an eyelash of being eligible. Montell was the guy instead and he made the finals.

That year was kind of crazy. We had lclere, Slaton and Montell all fighting for 141. I don't think too many had Montell pegged for the job.

Technically Metcalf was a back up as a RS frosh.

I would think based off the definition that technically Metcalf was not technically the backup as a RSFR.

I thought the Bull bumped up to 170 for his team last year? And I also thought that Kemmerer was making a tough cut to 149? I'm not buying it, Bull will be at 165, Kemmerer at 157, BS is not going anywhere

Now let's really get the conspiracy theory going, what if BS redshirts?????

And Epenesa Squared. He has a son younger than AJ who is a good wrestler.
Just to straighten out the facts. AJ is a tremendous athlete that has signed on to play for the Hawks as a DE. He plays BB and is pretty good. He has a younger brother who's name is Yoman? I believe that wrestles and I think is in 8/9th grade now.
