Poise, Passing, Position, and Patience!

Poise = playing on the road - don't get rattled
Passing = move the ball and find the open man
Position = defensive position (playing on the bigs hip)
Patience = trust your teammates to get open

We'll need to make threes, but if we pound the ball inside, getting Murphy/Lynch in foul trouble, I see that as the key to winning this one. There's nobody else on that team that can guard Cook/Pemsl/Wagner. Winning the rebounding battle is always good too.

Are we in agreement than that should Iowa win it won't be because Minnesota is tired, disinterested, or not that good?

I will of course always accept that Pitino can't coach. :)

I do believe it will be a challenging game, being at Minnesota. I'll say the key ends up being field goal percentage.

Have to find a way to defend Gophers. They are the type of team that Iowa has had trouble defending, multiple perimeter players who can drive it. Mason is very good as well. Good test to see where Iowa is at.

Continuing to integrate Jok into the team that learned to play D without him. We were playing D well enough, that, with Jok being a real threat from outside yet looking to pass, we'd be tough to beat if we continue to put it together.

Mason could have a BIG game, like Watson in the first game or Trimble had. The big men from Min. are athletic like Rutgers big guys but Minny's guys shoot better.
We can't be out rebounded like we were in the second half against Nebraska.
Then of course, we need to shoot at least 46% from the field and 80% from the line and we will have a chance.
At least Eades won't be reffing, that's a plus.

man, i hope we continue to see ball movement and i hope Jok continues to not fight for his shot but I also hope he shoots a lot better than the last time out; we need him big time these last 7 games

If Iowa matches or exceeds the gophers energy, they win by double digits. If not they lose, pretty simple, really the formula for every game from here on out.

I hate the match-ups for this game. To have a chance we must shoot 3's well, get on the boards, and defend. Unfortunately I see a bunch of dribble drives leading to dunks by M.

Got hit the open looks when you get them. Jok & Ellingson have to carry the load tonight. Young squad on the road in a tough environment. Minny will be motivated to win this game.

Minny 87
Iowa 69

Forget about falling off that stupid raised floor they use. The Minny crowd makes for a cushy landing.

typically the more aggressive team wins. They get 50-50 balls, rebounds, get back on defense. and move and work the ball.

Outside of the obvious of TO and FT battle Iowa has to get Lynch in foul trouble to open up the lane for the rare drives by our guards and our bigs getting clean shots. Mn went from like 170th to 10th in D in one year because of Lynch mostly.
